i had serious issues trying to find my dress! i felt so much pressure, & i had no idea what i wanted-- i just loved them all.

so here's what i did that really helped me out. i subscribed to 3 bridal magazines (brides, modern bride, and one other one-- elegant bride i think). but i found a great deal, i think it was $25 for a year's worth of all 3. then i started flagging the dresses i liked, anything that caught my eye was immediately torn out of the magazine and added to a binder i had. after going through a few months worth of bridal magazines i noticed a few trends, so i started organizing the dresses by them: i had a few with pick-up style skirts, some with lots of lace, similar necklines, etc.

then i took a serious eye and a fat black sharpie to the entire binder. i figured out what exactly it was about every single dress i had picked that i liked, and from there it was easy to piece the dress together. i ended up with one dress that fit all of my "requirements" and walked into the bridal salon (wedding dress excursion #6!) with dress in hand. they had it, i tried it on, and it was THE ONE. it took much effort, and almost 6 months, but i'm a perfectionist, and i was not going to settle!

best of luck with the hunt. most of all- don't get discouraged. i have been there, and i can tell you with confidence that when you find the dress you WILL know. relax, and take it all in.

        Thanks for the tips.

Yeah I'm not so keen on the whole halter thing, I tried one on and it made my shoulders look huge and I felt like it drew way too much attention to my chest. Maybe a different style halter would be better.

I love Maggie dresses but I am having trouble finding the ones I like around here, it seems like all the bridal salons I've gone to have the same ones and none of them are the ones I like.

I've been trying to find this one for about a month but the place near me that is supposed to carry the line has not been helpful on the phone so I am just going to go in there and see if they have it.

If it helps, I wanted to try on a Maggie dress that my bridal shop didn't carry. They are VERY helpful at my salon and told me about a policy that Maggie Sottero has where they will send any dress in any size to the shop to be tried on. Only thing is you have to pay the shipping cost to send it there and back (was around $65.) If you buy it then that $ gets deducted from the price of the dress. You may want to ask about that. Again, my bridal salon is overly helpful and eager to make the sale, so maybe that's why they told me about doing that.

So I'm up to 5 times now, still no luck.
I did ask about having the dress brought in to try, $65 and up to 10 weeks. I think I will do it, but now I'm getting scared I might not like it. I guess I'll just have to take the chance and see how it goes.

Good luck. I think you will love it personally. Maggie dresses are in a league of their own! (I'm biased though) P.S. I just bought this to use as a TTD. I got it in the mail today and it is such a great quality. To be honest, I would totally wear it all day as my regular wedding gown if I didn't already buy mine.
