Economy worries - wedding plans

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else out there severly stressed about having a destination wedding during this terrible economic time? I began planning my wedding in the Riveria Maya about a year ago for this August and now I am unsure that was wise.

I feel terrible with some family already booked and unsure of their job stability and other friends who really want to be a part of the day and were planning on going but because of this economy can not make it. We discussed these plans with family and friends who were important to us and made sure they were able to go, which is how we made the decision to have a destination wedding but now some of the very same people cannot do it.

I can't cancel because of those who have booked but I feel that postponing a year would be the best. Is anyone else sharing in this concern? What are your plans?

My fiance and I both have job security and savings so we are not where the concern is, just our loved ones, including parents and siblings.

As long as the two of you can make it - it will be a beautiful wedding. There is nothing stopping you from having an AHR when you get back to include those that can't be there.

I am in the same position as we are having our friends and family travel from Australia to Hawaii for our wedding. But we have accepted the fact that it is our day. We have chosen to have a destination wedding and for us it will work out cheaper than having it at home and having to invite 100+ people.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
