In Desperate Need of Shoe Help

Recommended Posts

Okay, so apparently I was born without the gene that most females are born with; the shoe and purse gene. I honestly just don't care (usually) about either. I go for comfort and practicality. However, for my wedding, I would really like a nice pair of heels to wear. Here's my problem; first of all, they HAVE to be comfortable--I'm a flip flop/sneakers type of girl, and I don't want to be miserable on my wedding day. However, to a girl that wears heels all the time, her idea of "comfortable" might be different than mine (my problem with asking my BMs for advice). Secondly, I'm really short, so I would really like to wear a 2 1/2 to 3 inch heel to make me look slimmer and taller. I've heard that such heels exist--comfort and beauty... but where? I'm wearing an ivory dress that has some crystals on it (Maggie Sottero's Alexandria). I would love to hear from brides-to-be or brides who have purchased feminine/pretty/comfy heels. Please help!!!

(PS I did a forum search, but couldn't find anything that related directly to my inquiry). :)

(PPS FYI; I do not have those wonderfully dainty narrow feet that some girls are blessed with; I did gymnastics for too many years and broke too many toes!)

Where are you getting married? As in, on sand, grass, or on a hard surface? If you're going to be walking on anything soft-ish I would definitely consider bare-feet, flats, or if you want the height, a wedge. A lot of brides also seem to go barefoot for the ceremony (if it's on a beach or whatever) and then just get heels for the reception (personally I don't want to dance in high-heels either!).

Also, do you want sandals, or close-toed? I can't really recommend any specific brands as being particularly comfy(I often find that supposedly comfy shoes don't work on my feet) so my best recommendation would be to go to all the bridal stores and try on their shoes in person, and then also hit up the regular shoe stores because they often carry dress shoes that'll work.

Sorry to not be much help, but I'm sure that some other people here will have more experience and a better idea of a specific shoe that would work :)

Actually any heel with a sligh platform would work for you as well as a wedge. As for wide feet, just go online and look for a site that caters to them. One of my BM has to get custom shoes as well. You'll find something you like. Just remember to put those little foot pads in the shoes as well. Trust me....they'll save your feet!

If you want heels then I suggest NinaShoes - Womens shoes, Dyeable shoes, Kids shoes, Evening shoes, Wedding shoes, Bridal shoes, Nina Dolls - I got mine there and they are really comfortable. If you need any extra comfort you might try something called foot petals Women's High Heel Cushions and Pads that Provide Comfort, Eliminate Sore and Tired Feet and add Style and Beauty to Your Favorite Sexy Shoes -their products are AMAZING! Good luck!

Just a bit of advice...along with what tylersgirl said about the foot petals...stores also sell a container of lubricant (kind of like chapstick for your feet) that you rub on your feet where the straps/back/edge of the shoe meets your skin. It really helps!!

Thanks girls for all your advice! I'll definitely check out all those suggestions. To answer binzer and MomentsThatMatter's question; I'm getting married at a restaurant deck, so it's hard ground. Oh, and I definitely prefer open-toed/sandals! Okay, I'm off to go check out the links...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
