Beautiful wedding!! After looking at your pics I decided hands down, I want my wedding there!! Forget Mexico :-)

What were the stipulations for the deposit (i.e is it a % of your total room bill etc)? Is it made in payments or one lump sum?

Thanks!

Here is an email I received from their wedding coordinator last week. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your interest in the Rockhouse. Rockhouse requires where all 34 rooms are booked in order to do a wedding on property. If this requirement cannot be met a minimum of 27 rooms must be booked by wedding guests. CLIENT will be required to fill or pay for a total of 27 rooms where all 34 rooms are not filled or less than 27 rooms are filled. We have policy so we can accommodate smaller, more intimate weddings at the hotel. As long as the wedding group remains small in relation to the size of the hotel there would be no problems. And so we are now making the hotel available for hosting weddings for up to 10 rooms or 20 people. For larger groups than this we will retain the policy of requiring that the whole hotel (34 rooms) be booked. We also continue to have a policy of no more than one wedding in any week to ensure that our team has the time needed to focus on this very special day. The deposit amount which is required to secure a wedding date is US$4000. Rockhouse requires a three nightâ€s minimum stay. We accept children twelve years and older as we are located on the cliff it dangerous for younger children. Our food and beverage minimum to close our restaurant for an event is $8000 not including tax and service charge. However you also have the option of dining at the pool side the night of the wedding. There isnâ€t a food and beverage minimum for this area however there is a 50 personâ€s minimum to close the pool area for a function. The US$4000 deposit will go towards your 50% food deposit as soon as we have finalized menu prices for 2009. All rooms will be held for a minimum of three nights a deposit of 3 nights is required to confirm all reservations. Please advise if you have any alternate dates. Refunds will be made with notice:-

1. 30 days or more prior to the wedding date 50 percent of deposit cancellation penalty.

2. 30 days or less, no refund

3. All bookings to be guaranteed by deposit at least 4 months prior to date of the wedding.

leobunny,

Well is looks as though they have changed their requirements for 2009! They definitely beefed up their stipulations!

The deposit is usually 50% of the total bill (taking your 'expected guest count, times the per plate charge, and taxes). That was what I had to do.

I had my reception at the restaurant and the set up there, to me, is way better than poolside (the set up poolside is too spread out).

So if you can meet the room requirements and can afford the minimum event (food) cost, it is definitely worth it.

My husband and I are going back next year with our guests to have an anniversary party.

Latrice, we took TTD session the day after the wedding at 9AM in the morning! The photograhers said the water is much blue-er early in the day. the photograhers took us literally to the side of a road by a beach. Other parts of the shoot was at the hotel and in the town right outside the hotel. It was suppose to be a 2-hour shoot, it ended up being 4 hours! we had so much fun!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
