Partial Takeover (20 Rooms) Nov 3-8
DE#2
BMs & GMs asked and accepted
Wedding Website up and running (needs a few tweaks)
Save the Dates arrived yesterday (will address and mail this weekend)
Color - Kiwi Green and Chocolate Brown
Flowers - Cala Lilies and Mini Cala Lilies
Trip scheduled to LA to go dress shopping with BMs

and that's about it.

Oh, and we just purchased our airline tickets today. So excited. I don't know why this makes it seem more real, but it does! We're going for 10 days.

Next on my list to do is start pulling together ideas for invitations, center pieces, OOT, and DIY projects.

How fun!

I carried my dress and DH's suit on in same garmentbag. Got kinda heavy with the suit but worked well. They hung it in closet bc there wasn't a ton of coats in first class.

There is a commercial sized steamer in the wedding suite. You might want to bring starch if you want to press guys' shirts. We forgot that part and they got kinda wrinkly.

Loving the color schemes!

PS I bought my dress in Costa Mesa at Mon Amie... was very nice. Marilynns in BH is nice too. Make sure you call for appts or they are a pain!

Jenniebey - we are the wedding right after you! Our stay is November 8th through the 12th, and we're getting married on 11-10-09 (Yay! it seems so close!).

Kate - I love those runners too! I'm planning on doing something similar based on this

Planning wise I am slooooow... My goal right now is save the dates. I used to feel bad about asking Lindsay if I coudl change things, but when I look at the slideshows, it looks like everyone had such beautiful, unique weddings!

I love PF - did anyone else go down there and stay for a scouting trip? It was the highlight of our vacation! Adam and Lindsay are so fun and really sweet. Now that we've been there, I'm definitely telling our guests it's worth it to stay there. Price wise, it'll come out almost the same as staying at the Sheraton or elsewhere, but it is sooo much nicer - with open bar!

I don't think you should feel guilty about changing things. I'm under the impression that Lindsay has base packages available, and you are free to bring extras and make modifications. However, I don't really see her as a wedding designer, like Mishka. I think we can go as crazy as we want, but it's kind of up to us, KWIM? Once I realized how much "stuff" I would have to bring into PV to really jazz up the table settings, I scaled back my ambitions a little bit!

Hi Mel&B, I also scaled back my original vision of table settings. I realized I would have to buy and carry over chargers, black vases, napkin rings, etc. and decided to just bring in table cloths and napkins to match my color scheme. Are the chairs you are getting black and white or brown and white? I could not tell exactly from Kate's photos.

Kate thanks for the tip on the steamer in the suite, I was considering bringing a handheld with me for the tablecloths and dresses.

Was anyone else taken back by the cost of flowers there?

DB2B, my parents, fiance and I did a scouting trip to Playa Fiesta las November. I had read all about it on trip adviser and different websites but we were all very pleasantly suprised at how beautiful it is in person and how friendly and welcoming the staff is. We loved it there and cant wait for our friends and family to see it!

We did our site visit in December. It's so funny b/c we were pretty much decided on Las Caletas and FI actually asked me to cancel our appointment with PF, but I wanted to see it so we had options. Then we loved it! Adam and Lindsay are so nice and we just loved the idea of having the place pretty much to ourselves for 5 days. Also, the food made a huge difference. The food at our AI was so bad that the food at PF was such a treat.

Bunsie - I haven't gotten any pricing on the flowers yet. Does it matter if you're doing something that is native to the area for the cost or all they all pricey? How much on average for a centerpiece or bouquet?

Kate - Mon Amie is definitely on my list, but I will check out your other recommendation as well. Which reminds me, I need to make appointments soon!

DB2B - That is so funny that you are right after us! I promise that we won't trash the place before your wedding. :)

We're just about 9 months away but that will go so fast. It's probably a lot closer than we think!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
