wow you are doing good! I am almost booked at Azul beach for May 29th 2010 and I really want to send out STD magnets in the next month or so. Did you send them out to the wedding guests? I am having a US side reception too - should I send STDs to those guests? I don't want extended family and friends who I am inviting to the US recpetion only to wonder where their STDs are.... Thoughts?

I had the same question. I decided that I am only going to send out STDs to people going to Mexico b/c there are people who are attending the AHR that I don't care to have in Mexico. I"m afraid that they will assume that since they got a STD with the location, it means that they are invited too. I am still pondering whether or not to send out STDs for the AHR. I might send out 2 different STDs b/c we are having a small intimate ceremony in Mexico with family and close friends and just not include the location but the date for the AHR.

Good Luck!

Thanks! Yeah I am nervous if some people dont get a save the date for the local party they'll not realize I am having another party besides the smaller mexico wedding and will feel left out of everything! I guess buying 2 save the dates might be expensive but worth saving some feelings.

Hi all you 2010 brides to be. This is so exciting yet stressful at the sametime. (And I thought planning a dw would be easier then a wedding back home) I am very excited to have found this site though. It has helped me so much more then any tripadvisor has so far, at least. I enjoy reading everyones posts. My hubby to be and I are looking to get married the first week of May 2010. We keep bouncing back and forth from the 4th and the 5th. We are getting so frustraited with the resort location that we think we maybe taking a small trip to Jamaica in June to figure out where we would like to go... If all goes well I will figure it out while on this forum and then we wont have to go and spend our picture money in June! lol Best wishes to all of you!

Thank you! :)

I don't know if you want to do this much work... but I would send out your STD magnets now to your invitees of the destination wedding and at the same time send announcements to your US reception letting them know that you are getting married in Mexico and they should look for the STD to your reception in the next couple months or whenever you decide to send it. The US reception doesn't need a whole lot of advanced notice (unless a lot of yoru guests are coming from out of state.)

Good luck! I can't afford a US reception so I'm all in with the Mexico wedding which is why my save the dates went out exactly one year from our wedding date. I've already had 30+ people RSVP and people requesting quotes from my TA so I'm glad I send them out when I did.

Hi!

We are planning our wedding for either Feb 25th or Feb 27th 2010, depending on which resort we go with. Trying to decide between Riu Yucatan and Sandos PLayacar. Any suggestions or feedback?

Also, are you all getting qouted high prices for your stay there? It's hard because prices are just coming out and they are really high! We should be able to go for much cheaper than that, I'm hoping! I'm worried about the cost for my guests but want to make sure we have a great wedding!

Hope your planning is going well!

Jennifer

It's great to hear about the resort from someone who has stayed there. We were considering looking at other resorts, as some of the quotes for Barcelo came back pretty high, but there's only a difference of about $200 from other resorts we've had quoted, so we have decided that Barcelo is the resort we love, and so that's the one we're going with!!! I am so excited!!
Now hopefully this swine flu thing blows over so we can book! I know my family won't be big on booking while this is going on. *fingers crossed*!!
Hi Cara W,
hope you enjoyed the pics on the website if you got a chance to look. Today I also found a "Sticky Post" in the Riviera Maya forum by "Sol Tamargo & Matt Adcock" for loads of pics on some different resorts in the RM area. Maybe take a look there too.

Congratulations to the new 2010 brides and happy planning!

Hey! We may have the same wedding date! We have the Bahia Prinicipe pre-booked for our wedding on February 25th, 2010. We have been to this resort 5 times and love it.

As for the prices, I had my TA, who is also my MOH get quotes from various tour operators. I wasn't surprised by how high they were because February is quite a way off yet. She advised me to wait and she will get another quote in a few months.

Our guests of course wanted to know how much the trip would cost so I told them what we have paid the last 5 times we went in February so they could have a number to "work with"...and I told them that the prices were too high to book now and that we would wait until we get a more reasonable quote. Everyone was fine with that.

Don't panic on the prices right now...hang in for a bit and check back later. Are you using a TA?

Happy planning!

That's so cool we might have the same date! :-) Thanks for your info...yes, I am using a TA who works out of Flight Center and is a friend of ours that's coming to the wedding. She's not charging us commission, so that's a bonus!

I feel comforted with what you are saying. I'm going to trust that it will all work out and whoever can afford to come, will come! I think the biggest thing for me is that we get the 'wedding' that we want, so we need to just go with it.

That's great that you have been to your resort many times before...makes deciding easier! We have only been to one resort (H10 Ocean Coral) in the Mayan but we know we don't want to have our wedding there, one reason is because of location. So, it's a bit unnerving booking something where we have never been. The Riu Yucatan seems like a safer bet, as many of our guests have stayed there and liked it, but they dont seem to cater to weddings as much as Sandos Playacar. I just want everyone to be happy. Sigh.

Thanks again for your reply! Let's be in touch with our planning, etc! Have you sent out your invitations?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
