Wow, what a great contest. Your photos are amazing. I am getting married in Riviera Maya on August 8, 2009 at a private villa. So far we have almost 50 booked and I have only sent out save-the-dates not even invitations. We're having the ceremony on the beach and then the reception poolside.

My great engagement story:

On our summer vacation in Portugal, Jose took me to the capital city, Lisboa and we walked around touring the city until sunset, when we ended up at an unbelievable waterfront castle. He bent down in front of me, told me how nervous he was and how beautiful I was. A few other tourists stopped to watch as he was bent in front of me and they were all waiting. My heart stopped. He dropped to a knee called me his princess and said he loved me. I started crying and he fumbled to open the ring box. He asked me to marry him and be his forever and I was blinking the tears away. It was perfect and he was my Prince Charming. Once he gave her the huh.gif? look, I realized that I forgot to answer him, oops! Of course I said yes and he jumped up to give me a hug and a kiss and picked me up and everyone started clapping.

I am so excited about this opportunity!

We are getting married at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort and Spa Riviera Maya, Mexico on the beach. July 2, 2009 Although this may not seem like a unique location the creativity, love and excitement we have will make the wedding a special and memorable experience.

Aaron and I are an active athletic couple, so it only seemed fitting for him to propose at the top of a mountain on one of our hikes. We live in VA and went on a beautiful hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was a few weeks before my 30th birthday so I wasn't expecting anything. The day was a little chilly but the hiking kept us warm. At the top the veiw was breathtaking. Blue mountains for miles. We found a little spot all our own and gazed at the view for a while talking about how wonderful this was and how the steep hike was worth it. I always feel grateful in moments like that when we are able to share nature and a quiet time together. Just as I was getting a little chilly Aaron said he had brought something for me. Silly me I thought he brought me a a favorite snack or something. He pulled out a ring box from the hiking pack! He simply said Will You Marry Me and smiled at me with his very handsome smile. Of course I said Yes(I think a few times). We hugged and kissed and took some fun pictures of us with our camera self timer. I forgot about the cold of course! I practically ran down the mountain I had so much adrenaline! It was perfect. Neither of us are showy people. We appreciate the small things in life. It was perfect to have a special and beautiful place that we can return to with fond memories. For pictures you can see our website: Wedding Website - Aaron & Kristie

We chose a destination wedding because we wanted things to be intimate and special for our family. We love traveling and to be active and thought Mexico would be a great combination of relaxation, romance and adventure. As teachers we did not have a lot of money to spend and with a destination wedding we can combine our honeymoon and wedding for a very reasonable price. Our wedding will be in blues, turquoise and white with starfish, shells and candle light accenting the area. Think flowing fabric and chinese lanterns. My dress is a mermaid fit silk dupioni deep v-neck front and back. Aaron will wear a silk tan suit. I don't plan to have a ton of flowes. My twin sister will carry a parasel instead of flowers and I will have them available to our female guests. I just can't wait to say I do with the sound of waves crashing and my toes in the sand!

We hope that you choose us and would love for you to capture our memorable day with your beautiful photographs!

Our engagement story is not very romantic and I always start off by saying "I almost got engaged in the bathroom!" So a week before we got engaged my fiance said he wanted to take me out for a nice dinner to celebrate getting his new motorcycle. He wanted one for a long time and was going to be paying for it and picking it up the following Sunday. So I figured we'd just go dinner in town no big deal but he suggested we make a reservation at this fondue restaurant called the Melting Pot. So I made a reservation for 7pm Saturday evening. I knew our engagement was always a possibility as we'd already looked at rings several times. So the week leading up to our dinner reservation I had a feeling that he was going to propose at dinner. There was several things that Mario didn't pay off very well so I kept getting hints. I ordered a new dress to make sure I had the perfect "look" for our engagement dinner. So the day of he had to work until 5pm, I went and got a manicure and pedicure and did some running around. Mario kept insisting that I be ready to go just after 5pm when he got home but our reservation wasn't until 7pm so we didn't need to leave the house until 6pm. I couldn't figure this out because he was going to propose at dinner, what was the rush? So I was just about ready when he got home. He showered and I was waiting for him in the living room so we could leave. That's when he called me into the bathroom to "help" him put his necklace on because he had just put lotion on his hands. Apparently he had the ring box in his pocket and couldn't figure out what to do because it was sticking out. So he was facing the sink so I couldn't see it. I put his necklace on and he turned around and gave me a hug and told me how much he loved me and was so excited about getting his bike. I told him I loved him too and was also excited he was getting his bike. Then he told me he just had one thing he needed to take care of before he got his bike. That's when I realized that he was not going to propose at dinner that it was about to happen right there in the bathroom! So I said "like right here?" and then we moved into the bedroom and he took the ring box out and asked me to marry him. The ring poped out of the box when he opened it up and I had to catch it. Of course I said yes and then the wedding planning officially started.

We're getting married at the Grand Riviera Princess in Riviera Maya on November 14th, 2009. We're having a beach ceremony with about 30-40 guests. We always wanted to get married barefoot on the beach. We love traveling around the Carribean and hanging out at the beach so it just made sense for us to get married on the beach. We chose Grand Riviera Princess because it looks like a wonderful resort and we were able to get great rates for our guests.

We look forward to possibly being able to work with you and your assistant for our destination wedding.

Thanks,

Tiffany

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
