Also, we're bringing together a lot of family and friends who have never met - I have divorced parents and both parents are remarried. My fiance's family is huge, so it's a great opportunity for everyone to meet and hang out before the actual wedding.
I feel the same as you. We are in the same boat as far as family spending time together and people traveling to be at the wedding. Plus I figure $21. a person for 30 people is not that bad. And my FI family is paying for the RD.

We are inviting everyone too. It is expensive but man I just didn't know where to draw the line. People are traveling so far!

Anyway, we priced out cocktails and apps at various places and ended up going with a full dinner b/c we got a great deal!! Most places charge by the hour for drinks and it could be $15-20 pp/ph so you might as well pay for dinner.

They have the most amazing view and will rent you the whole second floor overlooking the bay for no charge. We got engaged there and it is so beautiful at sunset!!! :) Our dinner is $35 pp with a choice of lobster, steak of fish and includes soup or salad and dessert. We even got them to add an appetizer of coconut shrimp for that price. Drinks are by consumption and we are just going to tell people the first round is on us and the rest is cash bar. Let me know if you want more info!

We are also doing our RD at Puerta Vieja. We're on a tight budget, so we opted for a fajita bar with beef, chicken and shrimp. Chips, salsa, guac plus one appetizer and desert is $25pp. Beer, wine, margs and mojitos is $15pp for 2 hours.

We loved this place so much, for a minute or two we actually considered having our wedding reception here. The service is great. Carlos, the Manager, is on top of everything!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
