I love having the DVD! I am very glad that we got it. I was on the fence, but now I am so happy that we paid the extra for it. The only part I don't like is of me getting ready, but that is just because I hate being in front of the camera! It is a bit embarrassing when they made me talk about my dress and I was a bit nervous to begin with!

We paid $2700 for the package. It guaranteed that we would a have a photographer & videographer before, during & after the ceremony. It included the video that had everything I mentioned in a post above & a photo album with 42 pictures. We paid the additional $1000 for a CD with all our pictures on it because we wanted more than 42.

When you meet with your wedding coordinator you can ask to see each photographers pictures so you can pick a photographer that has a style that you like. You will see them walking around the resort all the time taking pictures of everyone as well so can talk with them, have them take some photo's & then go to the photobooth place & see them. It is a good way to see what the photographer likes & how they capture moments. If you want any special poses make sure and give the list to your wedding coordinator & they will pass it along to the photographer. Things like your dress, shoes, invitation, cake, rings, you & groom in special pose, writing in sand, etc., are things you might list.

I thought I would share some of the things we did or wish we would have done to make things easier or remember more.

The most important thing I can say is to look around you, smile & enjoy every second. Take in everything before you start walking down the aisle. It will all be a blur after that!

Don’t plan anything extra on the day of the wedding – it goes by fast! Make sure you have plenty of time to relax, get your hair done, slowly get ready, take pictures & really enjoy yourself. Start the day off with brunch with all the women in your group.

take a nice robe with you to get ready in - you don't want photos in your sweats

order champagne to be delivered to your room & whiskey (or the like) delivered to the guys room or have someone in charge of running to the bar right b4 getting ready

give your engagement ring to the best man to hold onto during the ceremony so you can easily add it to the wedding band after the ceremony

make a list of the ceremony order, song order, special readings, etc. to give to various people so things run according to your plan

make 2 copies of your ceremony & reception music to give 1 to the videographer so they can add it on the video

make sure there is an umbrella in all your guests rooms the morning of - the resort has plenty! it may be blue sky, but rain comes fast & leaves fast

think about what kind of memories you want captured & let your wedding coordinator know - they are amazing at making dreams come true!

Make a list of all the photos you want taken - look at digital photo albums online to get an idea of things you don’t want to miss. We never took a picture of our invitation or just my engagement ring & now I would like it for our album. Landscape pictures of the ceremony site without guests is a great background for your album

take pictures with you of your desired hairstyle & makeup - it is easier than trying to explain

have someone collect the daily activity guide on your wedding day - it will have your names printed in it with a congratulations - outside the chapel will be another paper with your names, & then the dinner menu will be printed specially for you (these are great for scrapbooking if you want to save mementos)

buy blank cds & give one to each of your guests so they can copy all the pictures they took onto it & give it back to you

during your stay have the resort staff take as many pictures of you & all your guests as possible & then put them all under 1 account. At the end of your stay the cd is only $325 & everyone can split the cost & then make copies. Now you have even more photos! We have some great family photos now instead of 1 person always missing cuz they are

behind the camera. We have a cd of over 400 pictures.

EAT! Make sure and have something real to eat in the morning & at the reception. Don’t be the bride who gets drunk immediately because you didn’t eat all day!

Get everything organized before you leave. Have a clear idea of what you want. You don’t want to spend your entire vacation planning the wedding. You will miss too much & everyone else will return with great vacation memories & you won’t be part of them. You can still book everything once you get to the resort just make sure you know what you want.

I booked most everything in advance or at least told them what I was planning & that I would finalize it at the resort.

I hope this helps & please ask any questions!

Future Mrs. 2010 - Enjoy the excitement! You are so close now!

Wow, Sherri, thanks for that thorough list of tips and ideas! wink.gif At this point, I need all the help/advice I can get my hands on to help me feel better. I am near the point of freaking out...not to mention, I have the added stress of anticipating how traveling with our 18 month-old toddler will go (crossing my fingers it won't be as dreadful as I've been imagining).

Okay, so *beware* of the following rant (LOL)...

I feel overwhelmed, to say the least, because I feel like I still have SO much to do & only 10 days before we leave. (!!!!) I still need to finish our song list (doing solo), finalize our ceremony script (hopefully I'll get some help on that one, but we'll see...), make a complete packing list, finish shopping for travel items (esp. the baby ones!), get my ass in the gym every single day up until the day before we leave, keep tanning (I'm looking sickly in the dead of winter..here, where it's currently -30 at its warmest), and then I have to cross my fingers that my hair turns out as planned as I haven't had it colored since Aug. (don't ask me why...guess I'm just THAT busy). Wait, forgot to add to that list that I still have to decide how I want my hair styled and how I want my make up, too, not to mention I'll have to go out and purchase the makeup I decide on because I'm doing it myself.

ALSO...I had a major shoe-dilema:

I have to hold my breath until my shoes arrive on Tues.--assuming they WILL show up!--ordered my shoes from DSW.com in November & called and called to see what happened to them only to find out last week that they were returned to the company & since I had purchased them on sale, they were no longer available after the new year. The lady helping supposedly "tried her best" to work around this & get me my shoes I had been waiting for since Nov. (they never did come to my address) & she said it wouldn't be happening. Friday afternoon, my doorbell rang, and the mailman handed me a package from DSW. Yep, the shoes came (by some miracle, I guess). But too bad I had already ordered a pair from a completely different company & tried them on for the heck of and HATED them. (Blessing in disguise?)

Sorry for the long rant...but instead of feeling excited and "ready to go!", I am feeling anxious and extremely overwhelmed sad.gif

You can select the video package when you get there. I didn't purchase our package before hand. I was still trying to decide & the next thing I knew it was time to go & I was freaked out. When we got there everything was easy. They give you a book to look through, which is basically the same as Amber gives you, but has a few extras. You meet with the WC there & go over everything again. They give you champagne, cake samples, sample photo book, a list to fill out with things like music requested, who to include in your video/pictures and a whole bunch of other stuff. They go over everything so you can pick additional stuff or just to get the details that you want.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
