Spending up a storm! HELP!

Recommended Posts

We originally planned a destination wedding thinking it would bring down the cost. We all know how that turns out!

We would be fine if we weren't paying for both sets of our parents. We originally wanted to give each set $1,000 to put towards their tickets/accomodations. Once FI's parents say they couldn't afford it we said "fine, well pay for both parents" bad decision. We're looking at over $2,600 for each set. If both parents decided to suck it up and help it would bring our cost down a lot.

I mean, I've lowered my photographer and photography package to bring the price down $1k.

It seems like nomatter what we save, or cut down on prices just keep rising. We're less than 16 months out now, and I'm already freaking out.

Anyone going through the same thing?

I felt the exact same way!

We just recently sent out our invites, and were told that 80% will most likely go to a DW because its an excuse to get away.. now that we are nearing the end of our rsvp timeframe we have around 30% attending!! We were planning on spending $4500 alone on the reception dinner and now it looks like its going to be under $2000!! Sooooooo, hopefully your numbers will even out in the end, too!

I'm hoping we only get 20 guests or so. Anymore we'll be paying $45 a piece for. Which will bring our budget up even more. I'm hoping to send out only 30 invites because my mother is insisting not many people will come bc of the cost.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
