The Reefs in Bermuda

Recommended Posts

The Reefs is probably one of the nicest places on the island, very intimate and romantic. It does however have a very small beach, so if you're set on having a beach wedding, it might not be doable at this resort. They do have a really nice platform overlooking the water where weddings are performed, and one of the restaurants is actually cut into the cliffs. My parents ate at the hotel a few times when we lived there and had only good things to say about the food (and from what I remember of how you could smell it from the road, I'd be inclined to agree).

The resort itself has been going through rennovations for the past little while, upgrading things here and fixing things there. But it is constantly mentioned in travel magazines as one of the best on the island.

Have you taken a look at their website? (http://www.thereefs.com/romance/ )I've found myself perusing it just for fun on many occasions...I have a hard time letting the island go!

It was the staircase leading down to the beach that did it for me. I knew I was going to be on the Southshore no matter what (I'd decided that much when I was six years old), it was just a matter of deciding which beach/resort.

I wasn't going to be having any kind of sit down reception at the resort, so any costs would be confined to the ceremony and cake cutting. I booked my wedding package through a cruiseline's wedding company, so there was a set price no matter where you had the wedding, you just had to pay extra for transportation, seating, and whatever other extras you wanted. (side note, the cruiseline's wedding company, while seeming to be the easier way, was so disorganized. Our wedding turned out great, but it would have saved a lot of worry if we'd gone directly with an island coordinator).

It really is hard to narrow it down though, all the island's beaches and resorts are so pretty.

FI and I stayed at The Reefs this past October. We went to check out wedding spots since thats where we're getting married too! :-) The Reefs was beautiful! The rooms were comfortable, the employees were super helpful, and the food was delicious!!! I loved Caso's point!!

Have you been to Bermuda? I have a few pictures from the reefs if you would like me to send you some real, unedited photos. Before going to Bermuda, I didn't believe that it was really that beautiful... I thought they had really good photographers on the island!

We have been working with Linda Mitchell, from Bermuda Travel. She has been phenomenal! She is very knowledgeable and has great relationships with a lot of the hotels and people.

Congrats on your engagement! We are both Jersey girls planning Bermuda weddings in 2010! :-) yippee!

Bermuda Bride to be-

I have never been to Bermuda... but I have only heard fantastic things about it. It looks beautiful from the pictures I have seen as well. The plan is to take the royal caribbean 5 day bermuda cruise out of bayonne and get married on a location on the island. The pictures of caso's point and the moongate really drew me in to the reefs. I would love to see your pictures as well! my e-mail is [email protected]. Also, what did you think of the beach at the hotel because i would def love to have some beach photos- trash the dress in the water type of thing :) Thank you for all of your input! yay for jersey girls! cheesy.gif

We chose 9 Beaches due to the insane venue price of Coco Reef. I seem to remember my planner stating that Jenn's wedding was the last one before they decided to charge an arm and a leg for a site cost alone, with nothing else!

We're doing the 5 day RCCL cruise out of Bayonne also, with having our wedding the first day in Bermuda.

I'm a jersey girl also! Just getting married in 09 though!!

Jerseygirl, I've never been to Bermuda either, but still choose to get married there! A few years back my mother saw a wedding at Horseshoe Bay and said it was the most beautiful wedding she's ever seen, so that sold me enough to be able to get married there!

We've been considering getting married in Bermuda as well. We'd like to do it the beginning of Nov 2009. From different things I've read I've heard that Bermuda in Nov is not so great. Now I don't know what to do. The reefs does look beautiful. I just don't think we would be able to have our wedding on the beach there like we'd like. Too many people coming with us. I was in Bermuda about 15 yrs ago and it was BEAUTIFUL. The beaches are gorgeous.

We don't plan on taking a cruise. Flying in and staying at a hotel. I'm so confused on what to do.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
