So we thought we could tough out all the paperwork and the stress and just get it done. But from what I am reading - its costs alot? If anybody has the answer to that.. please help.

Or we will have to go down and get married civil then come back and get married catholic with our own church. Prefer to only do it once though...

Hi Julie!

You can get married in a Catholic ceremony in the DR. Most any resort will be able to help you with the logistics. The Catholic ceremony IS a legal ceremony. However, it will take some time to get the paperwork back. Check out WEDO .:: Taking care of your legal documentation for your Dominican weddings for all he paperwork info (from what I understand, this is one of the best palces to have your paperwork translated, etc. Also check out the forum area at Debbie's Dominican Republic Travel Pages - 1,000's of Resort Reviews, Tour, Scuba and Wedding Information ... as there is a section about DR weddings and specifically Catholic ceremonies are discussed in-depth.

We decided to do a quiet civil ceremony in the US and a Symbolic Ceremony in the DR based on the cost and amount of time for paperwork -- hoping no guests will know the difference.

We will still consider our DR wedding to be our "real" wedding, as that is when our friends and family will be with us to witness our vows.

Hope this helps!

Hello :) -- we are just starting our search and we are considering both Bavaro and Paradisus Punta Cana, along with Casa de Campo (I mentioned that when I first posted? sorry to repeat myself). I really have no particular info on either one of these (my fiancee's parents have been staying at Bavaro when they go and they love love love this resort (they are from Puerto Rico and visit DR annually). Also, my fiancee and his family have stayed at Paradisus in many prior vacations. We are going for a vacation in September -- I can report back when we return! I plan on taking lots of pictures. We may not decide until after the trip which may be cutting it close with regard to sending out save the dates (though those who we plan on inviting already have the informal heads up) but since we are going I feel like I should just wait until I see for my own eyes (this will be my first time in DR, and can't wait :) His family has also vacationed in Casa de Campo which is another consideration -- looks so romantic!!! :)

I just got married in the DR and we did it legally back home and didn't tell anyone but my Mom. It made her feel special to be in on the secret and it kept everyone from thinking our wedding day was not our wedding day.

We made the decision because you have to be in the DR for like three days before you can get married there and it was 500 plus translation, etc. And we didn't want to have to leave our guests for half a day to go do it. I would just go a couple of days before you leave and have a quick ceremony. The courts here do it so quick that it doesn't feel special anyway, lol. The courts don't tell us when we are married anyway, we do when we profess it in front of our family and friends. Good luck, you will make the right decision and it will be beautiful either way.

I'm not going to be much help here, but I am getting married at Paradisus Punta Cana and have a ton of info the WC has sent me (pics, prices, etc). I've heard great things about Casa de Campo too ... but don't know anything about Bavaro.

When you go, if you could take some pics of any locations at PPC that you see that would be good for a reception (75+ people) ... I'm trying to decide between La Barcaza for a oat reception or a reception at the resort.

Good luck and happy scouting! Can't wait to hear your feedback!

You guys are going to love the Paradisus, omg I am so excited for you. I have been to a ton of all inclusive hotels and this one blows them away. The most obvious difference is the food/service is all 5 star, out of this world! But the thing I love the most are the little touches. The bathrooms and grounds have incense all over the place so matter where you go it smells unbelievable. And the bathrooms and facilities are the nicest I have ever seen. The bathroom in the main lobby has a huge flat bed/couch in the middle (I guess in case you get tired after and need a break, lol) but everything is over the top like this! I definately reccommend the Royal Service, even though a lot of people dont. The reasons I do are the extra restaurant that is limited to RS is one of the best. There is a private pool just for RS that is adult only and hardly ever has anyone in it and the bali beds there are the best! Having one reserved for you is amazing and when I tell you to have your butler run you a "sensual" bath, you will thank me. I swear we felt like we were drugged, it was the best night we had!

I could go on forever, so if you want to know more or want pics or have specific questions, just let me know!

We are already planning a trip back in April.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
