I would look at the new Riu in Montego Bay that looked stunning when we passed it in October.

It does but I'm not a big fan of the beach. It looks WAY too close to the actual hotel. Maybe too close to the airport as well. I don't want to be hearing the planes flying around all day. Maybe you can't hear them, I'm not too sure.

So if you want to get your hair/makeup done, you have to go to Riu Negril. Did anyone else see this?
RTB has their own spa now that the upgrade to "Palace" status is over. We chose RTB for a couple of reaons. The upgrade to Palace, the beach and it being in Negril. We wanted a more low key spot than MoBay or OchoRios - however ROR was a close second on the list!

Thanks for the input. It is more expensive than Riu Negril though right?

I have a friend who just got back from the RMB and she said yes, it is close to the airport and yes you can hear the planes but you get used to it after a while.

She did send me a few pics of the 2 gazebos and if I can figure out how to post pictures I will get them up here.

Our group rate was $2200/single $1800/double and $1770/triple - that includes everything (AI, flight and transfers to and from the airport) FI and I are staying for 2 weeks in a suite and our grand total came to $5200/2 weeks.

Wow, it's actually less than I thought. Maybe I will have to check it out as well. I just find it really hard right now because there are no prices for 2010 yet! Hopefully the prices will go down by then! lol

lisaloo....At least you have some time to do a lot of price checking and research. That is a major plus because you can be sure you'll pick the right resort. I also think that if you narrow it down to a few places and book your wedding date with more than one hotel, you can cancel the date up to three months in advance. That's just an idea so you'll at least have your date and time reserved while you finally decide on a resort. But I'd make sure with each hotel first so you don't end up having to pay any cancellation fees.

I think that if the price were right, I'd rather be at the RTB because it is a "Palace" now and probably nicer than the Riu Negril. Hopefully some of us Riu Negril and Riu RTB brides can give you some good reviews of each hotel when we return!

I can't wait!!! I'm getting excited now, and it's still only a year away. I can't imagine how you guys must feel with only a few months to go!
