Just talk everything through with Ana. She does take several days to get back to you, but if you list out all your questions, she will answer every single one.

I actually changed to this resort as it worked out a lot cheaper than where we were originally booked, so it could be worse. You do get a lot included in your package (especially shooting star) that in other resorts they would charge you all extra for.

Once you get an email back from Ana you'll know more what sort of budget you're dealing with. She's also very accommodating that if you haven't got money for things, she'll come up with alternatives or places you could save some money.

I am VERY happy that I made the choice to move to this resort and I haven't regretted it once.

Good luck!

That's one example of how to save some money and cut costs...and an idea provided by Ana which she didn't have to do, but goes to show how helpful she is.

I know it's been ages! you'll have to start coming on here more as I get closer to my wedding so I can ask you loads of silly questions that probably don't matter! lol

ah thanks :) it was just one I had from a photoshoot I did with my mum....in 2 weeks I'll have ones from my boudoir photoshoot! so excited (and scared!) about that!!

and I am getting sooooo excited! got loads of stuff done this weekend so we're getting down to just the finer details now which is a huge relief. it's going to be here sooo quick! ust under 8 weeks now until we fly out!

The fee to "protect the reef" we only ever paid to use the sailboats provided there and I thought it was a good deal to use a sailboat anyways. There's big menu at all the restaurants so your guests wont need to spend the extra $ for lobster etc if they dont want to, you'll have lots of other choices. The "Privledge" package was gifted to us by a family member and I didnt notice it much. It was nice to have Crown Royal, otherwise I just felt cool having the nicer bracelet. Good luck to you wherever you choose to go but please have some etiquette when talking about OT as many other brides have already chosen this as their wedding location and your comments are probably only giving them grey hairs. Hope your wedding is everything you have dreamed of.

Bonnie, you sound determined not to like this resort, which is totally fine - that's your porogative - everyone likes different things, but like Lin's said, please do remember that some of us have already chosen this resort. Good luck in your search for a hotel :)

Katie,

I am not determined to hate this resort, but I am just not the type to book a resort for my wedding based on pics and brochures without a visit there and get all the issues (bed bugs and no diet coke...etc) settled first. I will go to check it out in June.

So far 100% of previous OCT brides are super satisfied (which is a good sign), and I am very happy with Ana, the WC, she is very responsive and answered all my questions (another good sign too). 70% of Tripadvisor folks liked it (which is an ok rating), except the bed bug victims (it can be skin allergies, and not bugs), diet coke addicts (only privi guests can have them), the turtle season (the terrace looks nice and someone said that I can see baby turtles going into the ocean, which can be very cute), the picky eaters (I grew up and fed with hotel/restaurant food, so I guess I will test it once I get there), weird/funky mold smells (again, it is common in Mexico, I just need to bring a candle).

Price is reasonable, kids friendly and their rooms aren't expensive. I am just doing the "avocat du diable".

AGAIN, I won't book anything until I have a visual confirmation, again being an analyst, I tend to over-analysed everything.

Just got likely one of my last emails from Ana before we leave. I am very impressed with how organized she is and that everything has been thought of. Sounds like she is meeting when we arrive at the hotel. Even though it take a day or two to rrespond she has been very good with booking additional things for us (ex: couple's massage for day after wedding). She has also given me direct contact with the person performing our ceremony so I can ask questions.

This weekend I'll be packing all the decor I'm taking, so I'll have a better idea of what's in there for my May brides !!! I've been collecting stuff since June!!

only a couple weeks!!! I can't wait!!

Best Wishes Angelfire!!

Katie, I cant wait to see your boudoir pictures (LOL... did I spell that right?), I can only imagine how excited you're getting. I was there and wedding, wedding, wedding was all I could talk about!! How are things going with family? Mine was being really difficult, and some of them being control freaks, when it got closer to the date, hope you're having a better time!

Keep up the good work ladies, Lin

How exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've asked Ana for a list of what she still needs from me (trying to be helpful!) but she hasn't got back to me yet. I think I know what I need to confirm/decide, but I just want to make sure I've covered everything. I have no doubts though that whatever doesn't get sorted before we leave will be sorted out as soon as we get to the resort. We've got a meeting booked with her the morning after we arrive, and with all the rave reviews people have given her I have no worries at all :)

Amber - did you get all your packing done this weekend? I'm so excited for my countdown already...I can't imagine how excited you must be being that close!!!!!!!!!!!

have you got everything sorted? Anything left to do?

Hey Lin....I know, I'm so excited and scared! part of me is really looking forward to it and part of me just wants to get it over with! but I will make sure I share my pics (if I can)...not sure if I get them on CD or not!

oh yes, it's getting quite interesting with families! for some reason my mum doesn't seem to be that involved or excited about it all; FI's family are quite argumentative and every time any of them have a row with anyone else, the first thing to come out is 'I'm not going Mexico' .....but on the whole it's all ok. For us I suppose now it's a lot more simple as everyone is on a package holiday there and on our booking and they're all paid up so no choice now!!

and yep, I totally feel like a broken record talking about it all the time!! BUT, it's not totally my fault - if people want to ask me what I did at the weekend, they have to be prepared for it being wedding-related!! haha.

Think when it's all over I'm going to be jealous of everyone still waiting to get married!!

I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU TO Lin for sharing this info about MyPublisher... I decided to try them too :) Their layout options are just beautiful and the program is very user friendly. I ordered mine last friday and I came home today and found my album waiting! Only 2-3 business days! WOW! and the quality of the images (colours and clarity) is amazing, and the binding is professionally done! Thanks again Lin! The only thing is if you wanted to make diff books (for diff people) you would have to order/pay for shipping separately. But if you have a Costco card and go through costco.com, you can get 20% each order, so that helps some :)smile03.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
