Have you heard from Ana? We are having a small wedding (12 including us), I haven't heard from anyone. We are getting married at 4:30. My sister is a photograph but she is also my bridesmaid I wanted her to just enjoy the trip. When are getting there? who did you book with? Maybe we are in the same flight :) I will be the anoying lady with the crying baby on the plane

Hey ladies,

I need some help! I am really having a hard time getting my wedding date and week nailed down. Nothing seems to be working out! We were set on the week we wanted to go and then found out it was moved a day ahead. I wasn't super thrilled, but not the end of the world. After that to be safe I decided before we booked officially to confirm if we could get the wedding location and time we would like, and I am glad I did! The resort is telling my TA that they only have one day available with the time of 6:30 pm for the week of April 28th- May 5! My concern is the time,  I wanted 4:00pm at the latest. I know the sun goes down really early there and i am afraid we will not be able to do pics after the ceremony of me and my soon to be husband. I do not want to do pics before, I want him to see me for the first time walking down the aisle. Are there any brides out there that have already or will be getting married at that time? Just want to know what others have experienced with doing a later ceremony time. Any feed back would be awesome.

Thanks crybaby2.gif

@guilaine87 - I had a lot of the same questions as you when I started planning and totally understand the frustrations of "Mexican Time" and the amount of time to get responses.  It is my understanding that the OTC will only do 3 weddings each day.  I had the same concerns about pictures and not wanting my fiance to see me until the aisle and was booked in for 630.  I emailed Ana and she arranged for 5pm ...I had asked for 4pm but she said she couldn't due to another wedding.  I would contact her yourself without the TA involvement.  The other good news is that the time change happens within a few weeks of your wedding date and you will get a little more day light at that point as well.

I hope this helps and puts you a little bit at ease :)  Goodluck with the rest of the planning and let us know if you get sorted for an earlier time!

Hi Ashleigh,

Thanks for your feedback! Someone must have been listening to my rant because, I actually have some good news! I pushed back and said I was not happy with that time and I found out this morning that they were able to moved it to 4:00! I am so happy! I really was not feeling right about that time and didn't know what else I would do. I have officially booked now and my wedding date is May 2nd at 4:00 on the lobby terrace! Now the process begins! Can't wait to start working with Ana.

Thanks again and good luck with your planning :)

One tip... Contact Ana directly via email rather than through your TA. For whatever reason I get way better responses when I do this. Sometimes Ana will say no to things that I've had my TA ask for but then I'll email her direct and she is so willing and able to negotiate and make things they way I want them. I no longer involve my TA on wedding details

@andecker23- Thanks for the tip! That totally makes sense. When I first starting looking into doing a destination wedding I spoke with a TA and right off the bat she said " I am not a wedding planner, I am a TA". From that point on I realized that they don't really want to be involved in anything other than planning the trip (some TA's might be different). The lady I am working with is through "Destination Weddings" she has been great, but she also said once we book, I deal with the resort on all the planning and she only gets involved if there are any issues. A little nervous about the communication, but from reading past threads it sounds like everyone else has done just fine. Would you happen to have Ana's email. I only have the one for the resort and I have tried it, but never got a response.

Good luck with everything :)

Hi! Ana's email is [email protected]? Good luck and happy planning!! I am getting married January 10 2013' and heads up it often takes Ana a while to get back to you, she is busy with current weddings etc, but rest assured she will respond! My TA is a destination wedding specialist and told me many times not to worry about the lengthy time it takes her to reply, that being said when I first started emailing her i still had some anxiety while waiting sometimes weeks to hear back from her. Now I realize she will email back, but it does often take a while. Another heads up although we are excited and wanting to get planning right away, Ana has reminded me we have lots of time, but I have been told as the date comes closer she gets much more accessible and available to the up coming brides. Anyhow best of luck, hope this helps!

@Danitree- Thanks for giving me Ana's email. Good thing I checked because the one I had was .com. I just found out that my planner is actually not Ana and it's Paula. I haven't heard too much about Paula through the threads. I hope she is as good as Ana. Has anyone worked with Paula? I will keep in mind that the length of response time could take a while. I kinda wondered if closer too the wedding is when you get more of the attention for planning. Good luck with all your planning!

Thanks for the info!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
