Just want to make sure you have expectations that are correct - it won't be like a cake you would get here.....
I am not really all that concerned with the end result of the cake... I'm pretty laid back with all the details.. as long as it looks pretty and tastes ok then I am happy! lol!

OMG it's only 19 days till we leave... looked all over for gift bags and have decided.. the stress of it is too much... it's just an extra.. unless I get a burst of energy.. not gonna stress over it..

Dress fitting is done and ready to go.. hoping they have a decent 'steamer' on site as not too excited about sending my dress off site to be steamed...

No cake here.. as we are the 'free package' no cake was included.. also I did some 'price checking'.. if you add all the extras in the Silver package (from the price sheet) and pay for the room upgrade... it's was still cheaper for us than the the Silver package... We needed 15 'room nights' which our parents (2 rooms 7 nights each) and our second week (honeymoon) help us meet that requirement..

So the idea of having everything prepaid a month in advance?? It would have been Jan 6th.. and Carolina still hasn't got back to us.. not sure when all the finally details will be settled (prior to leaving)

We did the calculations too for the free vs. silver and decided it was much cheaper to go for the free... I didn't realize you had Carolina too... she told me we had to pre-pay 6 weeks before (or so i thought), if you have been in contact with her recently i wouldn't worry about the pre-pay for as long as possible! Carolina did say they could steam the dress and it averaged about $35/USD so not bad!

I gotta email and get more info about the speakers, i really want to make sure our beach ceremony will be heard!

FYI, i am actually getting excited, you must be going crazy, this is so soon for you!

Am I excited?? I am sick to the stomach.. lol I am just waiting for the moment we get in the car and drive to the airport.. once I'm in that car.. I can relax...

I got a picture of what the pier looked like in November.... AHHHHHHHHH... Horrible... another EDSS bride sent it to me... Honestly.. it is REALLY bad.. looked like a bunch of telephone poles sticking out of the water at different heights leaning every which way... So unless they actually DO.. get the pier fixed... no wedding happening there... Apparently that's what happened to the girl who sent the pic... had to change the wedding location last minute because the condition of the pier... I'll see if I can post it...

Prairiegirl, you have to remember too that her photos were taken in Nov.. that is 2 months ago now... I'm sure it is either really close to being finished or if not already finished.. 2 months when the weather is always hot is good working conditions... thing is my WC said it wouldn't be ready till Feb anyways... so I'm thinking it may be nearing its completion or completed by the time your wedding comes around... if its not ready just go in with the attitude that you are still on a beach in Mexico getting married!!! What could be better than thathuh.gif

True tracy.. although it is Mexico.. things happen at a very slow pace there.. haha..

Really not too worried.. a little disappointed if it doesn't work out... that's all... In the end the location doesn't matter, nothing can ruin the day beacuse I get to marrying my best friend.... all those details don't really matter.... smile159.gif (insert 'AWWWWE....' here... lol)

I just returned from my best friends wedding at the EDSS. The bride had originally booked her wedding on the beach but after the first night we realized that it was way to windy. She changed the wedding reception to the swing bar restaurant - which was really nice. As a guest I am pleased that the couple decided to have the dinner inside as it gets pretty cold at night. Most of the girls had to wear a little cardigan at night.

The beach ceremony was beautiful but the microphones kept cutting out so you heard the judge's every fourth word. If you or your bridemaids are thinking about walking down the aisle with heels - forget it. We all bought shoes to compliment our dresses but disposed of them last minute.

Aside from those 2 items the wedding was flawless. The food was first class and the staff is very accomodating.

Good luck and let me know if you have any specific questions about the EDSS.
Hey! I do have a question for you... did your friends wedding have a dance and speeches and all that? I am trying to determine if we should pay the price for the dance floor unless there is an actual place where we could dance without having to rent a dance floor?

We want to do the private reception on the beach, and possibly do speeches and dance but not to sure if there is somewhere else we can do this instead of having to pay for the dance floor.. if you could let me know that would be great!!!

One thing I forgot to ask you ladies who are so close to your dates is about the legal requirements... what all did or do you have to bring with you for EDSS? I want to make sure that by the time we go to leave that we have all the legal documents we need in place and not forget anything that will stop us from getting married!!!! Cause quite frankly... THAT WOULD SUCK! lol! So if you could let me know what all you have to bring with you that would be great!!! Thanks!

My understanding is you show up.. have your passport and get married... If you or your FI have bene previously married there is more hoops to jump through.. but from what I undertand it is VERY simple at EDSS.. three business days and blood tests and BOOM.. you are good to go...

I asked Carolina for a document stating the requirements and it's very straight forward.

You will need your tourist card (as it will bw passed out on the plane prior to landing) and all your witnesses (4 in total ) will need to show thier passports and tourist cards.. that is basically it..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
