Hey girl!

Please know that you are not alone. I have read many threads about this very thing. From personal experience, we were going through the same thing. When we first announced our wedding we had 31 people pay deposits for their airfare. -That does not include FI family in Puerto Rico who rsvp to attend. Anyhoo, the room deposits were next. When the due date was up we had not one person contact us due to their financial difficulties. The stress was too much for me! girl_werewolf.gif We have a minimum consumption at the resort & with our guests beginning to drop out 1 by 1 we decided to call off the wedding. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do! I'm completely heartbroken! I know many other people who stuck it out and found a way to make their DW happen but for us postponing and regrouping was the best thing to do for us.

Good Luck with everything!

Do what's best for you and your FI!!

We have no one coming to our wedding either!! Yeah, it does kinda suck and Im a bit disappointed ( okay Im super disappointed) in most of my friends/family. However, most have very valid reasons for not being able to attend. A DW is what FI and I want and regardless of how many people come, its about US and not anyone else. Seriously I only have my Mom, sister and my MoH coming. FI only has immediate family coming and no friends. Im past the angry, sad stage and moved on to the "Im partying in Jamaica with my new husband for 2 weeks and dont care who's coming with me" stage.

Kristam- Have you made any travel arrangments with a travel agent? We found this was really helpful for getting people to commit. We spoke with a couple travel agents and told them our travel dates and where we were going and the one who found us the best deal was the winner. We asked her to give us a quote for a group rate (10 ppl or more). After we had our quote we sent out an email saying that "we found this great deal and if you are interested the deposits are due on this date, etc etc" This way we kind of did the looking around for them and we got a lot of happy responses with that. I think a lot of people don't know where to start! Plus once they have made their deposits they are more inclined to start saving! I hope this helps!

As you can see you are not alone. I am not sure how many people will be coming when its time for deposits but my guess is not very many at all. I just hope I have enough for the free wedding. I have told everyone this is what I want and if you want to join us that will be great and if you can't I understand. Other than my children (2nd marriage for me) I have no family coming. FI right now only has his parents and we have 1 friend couple that has said forsure they are coming. No matter what you day will be amazing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
