From many of my past brides who couldn't book with me due to availability, they have told me the only thing really to be of concern is if you like the portfolio of these resort photographers. If you don't like the resort photographers (their portfolio) or you are not comfortable with them as a person (This actually matters when you have someone following you around photographing your wedding day) then you need to make sure your resort even allows outside photographers and if so, is there a fee or stipulation? I am in the middle of booking two brides for one weekend in Cancun for a wedding and the resort they are having their wedding at requires outside vendors to either stay at their hotel or pay a hefty surcharge. You probably already know this...but I thought I would give it a try to answer. ;)

Hope this helps!! ;)

Hey ladies, I do not want to sway you away from the resort photographer by any means, I just do not feel like it is worth using him. I'm going off of all the reviews of the resort photographer  on this site and I had Maria email some sample work and I was just not impressed for the price. You also only get the prints unless you pay a couple hundred more to get the cd of the pictures whereas Octavio's for example (and many other local photographers) include the prints and a cd for less money and better quality. It does not hurt to check around.

Has anyone decided on the 4 songs you will be using for the ceremony?

Hi ladies!!!!!! I'm Ashli and new to the site (I've been trolling around for the last month or so) but my date is set and reserved at the Sandos on November 3, 2011!!!! :)))) I've enjoyed your posts, and also have a ton of info in case anyone is still in the beginning stages. As for the above comment, I totally agree! The photography prices are high! I've found several very good reviews for Octavio and he sent me his quotes and he is extremely reasonable :)

We are planning on using the resort photographer for my daughter's wedding. I've seen pictures from two different brides who used the resort photographer (via facebook) and I thought they looked great... and more importantly the brides were very happy.  It might be luck of the draw, and perhaps they have had some bad photographers. I'm a little nervous about it... but am hoping for the best. I don't really get that they say no private photographers, yet obviously they allow it.  I'm a rule follower and like "easy" arrangements, so I'm willing to take a gamble. We also like the idea of including the reception in the photos...so once you get to the higher package... it becomes a little more reasonable for what you get.

I just got a price sheet that I've not seen before, and the more print photos you order... the less you pay for the full CD of ALL photos.

30 print photos of ceremony and beach shots (and 30 on CD) $450,  with an additional $500 for the entire disk of photos with mini print book

(total 30 prints and full disk  $950)

60 prints of before the wedding, lobby photos, ceremony and beach shots (and 60 on CD) $650, with an additional $350 for entire disk of photos with mini print book

(total 60 prints and full disk  $1000)

90 prints of before wedding, lobby photos, ceremony and beach shots, private reception) (and 90 on CD) $850, with an additional $200 for full disk of photos with mini print book

(total 90 prints and full disk  $1050)

So, as you see... if you are interested in a CD of all photos... makes more sense to go for the 90 print package..that covers the reception... not just the ceremony.

We are still considering options, though.

Thanks Mother of the Bride!

We were planning on going with the resort photographer but some of the comments started to make me nervous.  I am also big on doing things the easy way, which is why we also plan to use their hair salon, flowers, DJ, etc.  A huge part of the reason we chose Mexico was so that we would not have a stressful wedding.

Out of curiosity, when is your daughter getting married?  I would love to hear from a mother's prospective how everything went.

Cheers

Lindsay

Off topic, I'm doing the semi-private dinner, after the wedding thats inculded in the package, but I would like to know if any of you did place cards?  Or does eveyone just sit where ever?  I feel like people might be a little lost if they don''t know where they are sitting.  Any insight?

Yeah, I don't think I'm doing a program....although I heard a good idea the other day.  This girl made her program as a fan....i thought that was cute.  But I have no idea about any of this, and thats kinda why I wanted a destination wedding....so I didn't have to sweat the small stuff.  Ya know? Maybe anyone thats already been married there could help us out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
