Hi JMLS!

So glad to see another review on here as I am getting married April 26, 2012 at Sandos.  I was really unsure about whether or not to rent the disco... I like your idea of just hanging out after dinner until the disco opens; it sounds like that seemed to work for you.

Did you get to have a "first dance" at the disco even though you did not rent it? Was your ceremony in English or Spanish?

Thanks!

Just some more information for you all,

Lupita informed me yesterday that there is a fee for using external photographers.  I had a bit of a flip out because I have already booked and paid for an external photographer from Playa Del Carmen (not cheap!) and that I was never told by Maria (the wedding coordinator who left) about this.    This fee is an extra $300 so you can see why I am freaking... Lupita said she would ask to get my fee waived because I booked mine prior to knowing this.  I hope it all works out because I do not feel I should have to pay for it...

Anyways, enough with my venting.... Just thought I'd let everyone know!!!

hmm...weird. When I contacted Maria a few months ago and was asking questions she told me outside photographers were allowed but you had to pay the $77 for a day pass. Mind you this was before Lupita took over, so things may have changed... thats a real bummer. I'm definately going to be keeping my emails lol. Come to think of it I think it may have been Lupita I was talking to when Maria was away on holidays. Either way $300 is a rediuculas fee to charge if you ask me!!

Hi Wedding4Mexico!

We actually had our first dance at our wedding dinner at the Italian restaurant. We got lucky in that the oven was broken at the Italian restaurant so we got the whole place to ourselves, even though we didn't pay for a private reception. So we got to have a speaker set up and it was perfect for our first dance! Another option would be to have your first dance in the wedding hut right after your ceremony, becuae it has a sound system and DJ supplied for the ceremony.

Our ceremony was in English, and it was beautiful! Although we hadn't met the minister prior to the ceremony, she did a beautiful job and it really felt like she knew us. We had told Lupita ahead of time that we wanted to do our own vows, and the minister was fully aware of this. They have a microphone and speakers set up so everybody can hear over the sound of the ocean. We were thrilled with how the ceremony turned out!!!

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married at Sandos in less than a month and I wanted to give you another idea as to what you can do instead of the Disco.  We chartered private air conditioned Vans for $250.00 US for our 34 guests and we are taking them to Fusion for a beach fire show.  The fire show is free so we ddidnt mind paying for the vans to take them all there.  It is on another resorts beachfront so it has a bar there too should your guests like to get a few drinks.  We figured we would forego the disco due to the mixed reviews and had heard great reviews from other brides about Fusion.  So check it out if you are interested in trying something a little different.

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
