I just saw this posted online, and I'm SO excited about it! Too bad we have to wait 2 years to read it...

 

Sex and the City Author to Write About Carrie Bradshaw's Teen Years

Sex and the City fans are going back to high school!

 

Candace Bushnell, the author of the column that became the hit series and movie, is writing a teen novel about Carrie Bradshaw's adolescence, HarperCollins announced Wednesday.

"I've always been interested in exploring Carrie's teenage years," Bushnell said in a statement. "Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd - she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene."

 

The novel, part of a two-book deal, is due for global publication in fall 2010.

 

"We are incredibly thrilled," said Alessandra Balzer of HarperCollins' Balzer & Bray imprint. "Teenagers are rabid fans of the Sex and the City book and show. I can't wait to see what happens when Candace turns her sharp eye for social commentary to the other competitive jungle that is high school."

 

Bushnell is also the best-selling author of Four Blondes, Trading Up, Lipstick Jungle (currently an NBC hit) and One Fifth Avenue, due out this month.

Ha! That sounds great! One of my lit classes always teases our predominantly female class that we do not know enough about the classics, but we can tell you anything from A to Z about the Sex and the city characters.... DAMN straight!!

have you read her books? they are not very good. trading up was OK. sex & the city was terrible!! I loved the show but the book was too bad to finish.

The only one I've read is 4 Blondes...I thought it was alright, but I think I expected it to be as good as SATC (the show) so of course I was disappointed. Boo. I hope she doesn't make this book suck. Maybe Michael Patrick King or whatever his name is, and the writers of the show, should actually be the ones to write the book!

4 blondes was ok too. i read them all one summer, even though i didn't really like them. i had a boring job where i could read. trading up had one of the same charecters from 4blondes & it was much better.

 

i hope she gets some help with the writting too. S&TC the book was unreadable. it was like a series of columns & didn't really make sense.

Perez is reporting that a SATC II is in the works. I agree, the books are not as good as the show.

Eh, as long as it's more about the fashion and less about the sex (without love) I'd be OK with it. Teens these days don't need anymore encouragment! I know, I'm a prude!!!
