DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

sad.gif Soooo I really just wanted to vent to you guys cause I'm pretty fricken sad right now. I was supposed to be doing a recon mission to Dreams in November for my 2010 wedding and we were going to be using airmiles to fly so all we had to do was book the hotel. Welllllll Dreams' hotel rates have SHOT UP in the last few weeks from a total of $1200 right up to $2100 for one week!!! For ten days it would be $2900 friggin bucks and that doesn't include flight or transfers!!! An extra $1000?!?! Why couldn't we just have booked when it was low??!?! So now I'm not even sure if we'll be able to go!

FI says not to be sad, we'll still go but stay somewhere else......... BOO.

Now I'm worried that Dreams might end up being too expensive for some of our guests!

Another random question and I don't know if anyone will know this, but which restroom would our guests use if our reception is on the Terrace? Does it have high general public traffic? I am trying to decide it I am going to provide things in the bathroom like lotion, oil wipes, etc.
Hey Jaime- I have been to dreams a couple of times and from what I remember there are bathrooms right by the Terrace. You just walk down the stairs and they are on the left off the main walk way.
Even though the bathrooms are off the main walkway- they are pretty empty. Last time I was there I noticed the wedding party put things around the sink (nothing too fancy) like candles, flowers and lotions. It was a nice touch.

I am so sorry Dreams prices shot up so much! The only reason I can think they shot up is because it is going to be prime vacation season down there and it is just getting so close so they are jacking up the prices for last minute bookers. Is there another time you can go?? Maybe after the first of the year? Don't worry about your guests because if they plan enough ahead it should still be relatively reasonable for them to fly and stay. I just checked on prices for my wedding time next May and three nights plus air is only $1390 and that is on Dreams website, where as my TA was cheaper than the website when I booked my air and hotel. So your guest prices should be totally good. But I understand it being such a bummer for your Nov. trip this year sad.gif, hopefully maybe the prices will drop in a couple weeks so you can book a last minute trip.

April - if you want to come around my wedding (anytime around 11/2cool.gif you can use our group rate - PM me if you want to - you would just have to go through my TA but the rate with taxes and all is $232 per night for both of you in a deluxe room.

Good call Jess :) April we will be there from 12/2-12/12 and I can give you my TAs info too. I don't have a group rate, but she still has some great prices around Jess'.

I haven't commented in a while over here so I thought I would chime in on the signature drink thing. I just told Rebeca that we wanted something orange in color with a lime. She said that was no prob and we can taste test when we get there to decide.

Jamie I hadn't even thought of doing bathroom stuff, but it sounds cute. Anyone else considering this?

Wow Jess, that might work out pretty good!!! (Except your date turned into a smiley) wink.gif That's not bad since it includes taxes.... still more than my alaskaair quote but definitely better! There's some better flight options for us on Nov11th but we're pretty flexible. I'm pretty much looking at any days that I can still get 2 seats together on the plane. I'll talk to FI!!! (Excited now!)

Autjo, could you check with your TA to see what she has?

You guys are awesome, how great is this forum!

I hope it works out AprilMay! Definitely don't worry about your guests - I'm sure the prices are so high because it's last minute and they are booked up. We Nov 3 and I'd offer our rates but they are gone now sad.gif and if you can't get out - don't worry! We are doing it without ever having been down there. lots of people do and it works out fine!

Thanks for the info Allyson - I'll definitely plan on doing it then. One more thing to add to the to-do list!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
