Ok...this may sound dumb but here it goes...

    1. Who hosts and plans a bridal shower?

I have always been under the impression that your bridal party (MOH) would host it and plan it but I am far from any of my attendants...do I do it then? Is that greedy?

    2. What is the purpose of the bridal shower?

Is it just to recieve gifts or what?

    3. Who do you invite to the bridal shower?
I have many people around me but none are family and none are coming to the wedding...what is the protocol?

Please add any other information about bridal showers....thanks!

      1. I don't think there are any rules as to who can throw the bridal shower. It can be the bridal party, someone from your family or FI's family. I wouldn't throw one for yourself though. My aunt and cousin threw my shower for, and my co-workers threw a surprise shower for me at the office.

      2. I don't know the history of the reason behind showers, but it is a great way to get your family and friends together and celebrate your upcoming wedding. The gifts are a bonus though!

      3. We invited only the people that we invited to the wedding (the ladies and their kids anyway). We extended invitations to extended family and friends for the wedding, but not everyone is coming to the wedding. We had a lot of people come to the shower to wish us luck, etc. since they couldn't make it to the wedding so it was nice to see everyone. A lot of my extended family had also never met my FI so it was a great way to introduce him.

        1. Usually it is your MOH, but can be any of your attendants or friend. It is not proper etiquette to have your mom host the shower.

        2. To celebrate getting married, traditionally it is for women to get together...

        3. I invited everyone that was invited to the wedding only.

I also agree, traditionally your mother should not host your bridal shower. one of your bridesmaids should host it.

The purpose of a bridal shower is to basically bless the bride with items she would need for her home. Traditionally you would not be living with your FH, so you would not have any house items.

I am inviting everyone that was invited to the wedding, plus some co workers of my mother in-law and some friends of my mothers that we knew before sending out invitations that they could not make it.

          good luck with your shower
