Back from The Breast Cancer 3 Day!

Not sure if anyone on here has done this or is thinking about doing the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk, but I just got back from my first year walking. This is a 60 mile walk over the course of 3 days (camping 2 nights with everyone). I did the San Francisco event last weekend and cannot begin to explain how amazing the experience was. The group was relatively small, only 2000 people walking (due to it being the first year here in 5 years so it lost momentum), but we managed to raise $4.5 million for Susan G. Komen for finding a cure for Breast Cancer.

The most amazing part of the experience was the commaderie, strength, and support of these people walking. Some of which were recent survivors or currently in treatment. These women and men are so strong (mentally and physically, one was even in a wheel chair) that it brings you to tears that a disease would try to break them down.

I feel wonderful (no soreness or blisters amazingly) and a huge sense of accomplishment (wasn't sure I could do it). I am signing up to do it again next year my team ("The Walking Boo-Bees") has already decided to travel to Washington DC for the walk there Sept. 11-13th (9/11 being symbolic and 9/13 the BDay of our girlfriend who had breast cancer and passed away 2 weeks ago at age 43).

If any of you have ever considered doing this...DO IT! It is amazing! We can make a difference!

Awesome! Great Work!

This month is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and I will be leading several support groups, PSA screenings and men's health fairs accross the state of MN. They are jealous of all of the hype for Breast Cancer Awareness and they want the same for PCa. What women can do when we set our mind to something!

I'm trying to bring a little of our energy to the other side!!!! smile72.gif

Congradulations!!! I was in the city this weekend, and was wondering if that event was going on. I did the Avon two day walk last year so I understand how hard it is. It is a huge accomplishment. I have a strong stance on walking now. I HATE WALKING!!!!! Congrats again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
