Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey MrsRobinson:

-The Gazebo wasn't as windy during the ceremony, as I thought it would be.  Our day wasn't very windy anyway (however my long veil was blowing everywhere during photos). Isnt the Gazebo included in the packages????

ive read complaints that the Gazebo could be very loud during ceremonies, but we had microphone and Im pretty sure thats standard, and no one complained of that (and i didnt notice anything other than my husband!)

-As for that person we spoke to that had a bad experience, apparently there was a wedding right before hers so she felt as though everyone was rushing to put together her wedding. They quickly changed the gazebo to her colours etc.
She felt like she wasn't as important as the wedding that happened before hers.....And she just didnt like the hair/makeup people at the resort. Also, I guess because of the wedding before hers, she only had one photographer (from resort) and they were not happy with him/her. Wasn't being vocal and not directing them etc.

Im not sure how the rest of her experience was in regards to the ceremony or reception but thats just what we heard from her family. I think she was pretty upset about a lot of it though.

We were the only wedding on our day, so we had Jackis undivided attention and I didnt feel any of what that bride felt at all (then again, we didnt use resort hair/makeup or photographer either). Unfortunate that she had a bad experience. Thats one bad review I've heard in hundreds of positive ones.

The resort overall was great. I really have no complaints..We've been to mexico about 6 different times, same side of mexico. We've stayed at Barcelo, Gran Bahia, Gran Oasis, Akumal,  to name a few places......Dreams PA was great. It isn't your big huge resort, which is why i LOVED it. It was small, you felt like you were important to the hotel there, they get to know you(if you let them) and these are things I love. Those gigantic resorts are just too much, if you ask me. All of the restaurants were good, some better than others. Buffett is buffett, BUT it was one of the best selections in a buffett ive had in Mexico before. Portofino's was definitely everyone fav place to eat. But Oceana was good, and so was El Patio (ive read nasty reviews about the Mexican food at El Patio, and i loved it!)  Im not picky or a big complainer, and during your wedding week you should be on cloud 9! Not complaining about food or the beach. It really is lovely, all of it!! Nothing to worry about.

Jacki even threw in a couple of extra things here and there to make it perfect and we didnt pay for them.  She was great.

Hey MrsRobinson, congrats on your legal marriage, and it's so exciting that you leave so soon!

I have a question for you as I know we are using the same photographer - MTM.

What package did you get? I'm trying to decided if I need him for 3, 4 or 5 hours! As for the guest pass for him and his assistant did you just send him the money to cover that cost, or do you pay at the resort and have them waiting for them at reception?

Ian and I got legally married yesterday and it feels good! Can't wait to leave in ten days smile159.gif

Welcome Sarahlynn! I believe that they set up lights for the beach reception, nothing fancy though! I've seen pictures of set-ups with hanging paper lanterns that look really nice, but I'm sure they would charge a lot more for that.

We are also doing the light-up dance floor on the beach, but I can't seem to get a price quote from Jacki as she keeps saying that she is waiting to hear back about it.

Did they give you a price quote, if so do you mind me asking how much?

Cheers,

Allison

I am new to the thread but have had my wedding booked for a while now.  We are getting married at DPA on June 12, 2012 and as I start to plan the smaller details my anxiety level has gone through the ceiling! Reading all the posts on here, I am questioning so many things I felt I was set on! Like have the reception on the beach and doing my own music instead of a DJ. Anyone that has done a beach reception, did you have lights under the tables and was this enough light at night or do they have other ways to light up the area? I am doing a light-up dance floor in the sand too so I think that will help.  Does anyone have pictures from their wedding with silk flowers? I am considering this but I do not want them to look fake. My girls are wearing coral colored dresses and am nervous to do the resort flowers because it is such a hard color to match.

Thanks!

Sarah

Thanks for all the info 604! I am not using the resort hair / makeup or photographer, so I feel a bit better. I hope there are no other weddings on my day too!

Allie - I actually got the 6 hour package. I think it cost $2,900.00, plus him and his assistant are not included for dinner (you have to include them in 6 hours and up). I was worried that 6 hours wasnt going to be enough, but I hope it will be. I am paying the resort for the two day passes. Jacki will include it once she send you a form to fill our closer to your day.

I think I'll just get a thank you card and put a tip in it, only I don't know how much! I was originally thinking around $50, but I have read through some threads and it seems like ppl tend to tip closer to $100. That sounds like a lot to me, but I guess she does work extremely hard. As for a gift I would have no idea what to get her, so it is easier to just stick to money :)

Allie- When I had originally talked to Jaci, we had more than 40 people coming (so we needed a larger dance floor) and she quoted me at $1100 for the light up dance floor.  I also recently emailed her about the cost since we now have less than 40 people coming and I'm hoping that will bring the cost down! But I have not yet heard from her.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
