I hired outside photographers because I want photojournalism. I went with this company: Wedding Photographer for Cancun, Riviera Maya

So I took a look at the photographs that the woman on the Iberostar boards had taken by the resort photographers. They didn't blow me away, that's for sure!! I didn't see this "bee" that she was talking about though...so that was weird. After careful consideration, I think I may end up splurging for an outside photographer. It just seems worth it to work with someone who is fluent in English and who takes a more photojournalistic approach. We'll see! :)

I didn't see the bee either. Her pics were actually better than some of the others I have seen. But the trend I am seeing from this photographer is they do a lot of really silly and cheesy shots. Not sure what that is all about.

I had a friend get married at the Iberostar Lindo this past January and she used the resort photographer. When I saw her pictures I was really disappointed. We immediately decided to splurge on an outside photographer. My friend said they didn't speak english very well and they have all of these poses they want to take regardless of whether or not you want them to. Also, when they print the pictures for you, they glue them down in an album in a total random order (there was no taking them off the pages).

I guess it all comes down to how important the pictures are to you. I have said from the beginning that pics are one of the most important things for me so there was no question about hiring someone outside of the resort. We are having Elizabeth Medina photograph our wedding and I couldn't be more excited!!!

Ah, you are so lucky! She is booked on our date. DO you know of anyone else? I have an email out to one other recommended. But I am really nervous since everything I have seen and heard about the Lindo's photographer is horrible. I think I want to cry!

The WC at the Del Mar told me you only have to pay for guest passes for the photographers if they're eating-if not, you just have to pay the $300 penalty. I decided to go with Cecilia Dumas because her pics are really pretty and she's very affordable. She also responds back pretty fast, which I love! Have you guys decided if you're going to use a videographer or not? The videographer at the hotel went up to $400, but I've heard they're not good either. One girl said he filmed them having pics taken by the photographer and counted that as part of their time. I'm having a hard time finding a good, affordable videographer in the area. I'm considering just having a family member videotape it just so we have something. I don't know what to do!!
