Oh, honey, I'm sorry - retail jewelers suck! I wish you could take back that "lifetime repair plan" you bought. I would def think about visiting a local JEWELER to see what they would charge you to give you what you want. Just FYI, when I had changes made to my ring when I first got it, it only took 2 or 3 days total...and I can walk in there any day of the week & have my ring cleaned & inspected at no cost.

Miki, I believe Kay is owned by Jared and honestly I think with all the problems you have had, you should have them transfer your policy to a local jared, I am not sure if you have one near you but its worth the try, because they are awesome, I got my ring there and have had amazing service at three locations. they usually get my ring to me that day. they have a repair shop in each store.

okay I was right they are owned by the same company. its called sterling jewlers

Sterling Jewelers

Miki it looks like you have a ton of Jareds in your area, I would really call their corporate office and have your insurance policy transferred. I really love Jared and think they are amazing with Cust. Service.

Christene,

I was wondering about that. I knew Kay and Jared were owned by the same parent company and planned on calling to see if everything could be transferred. I could kick myself in the rear because we went to Jared first and were treated like royalty and then we went to Kay and were treated pretty mundane. The only reason we bought it at Kay is because their corporate office had mis-priced the diamond and we got it for about $1500 less than it's actual value (D color diamond priced at H/I color price).

I'll definitely check into switching it over. Thanks for looking that up--- we went out for dinner tonight and on the way to the restaurant, we drove past a new Jared's just down the road from us and we even commented on switching everything over. :) (ahhh---- the hope is restored!!!)

You know what I don't mean to scare you but Fo is right. A lot of jewelers do that. But I'm assuming you have your ring insured so you must have gotten an apraisal and they probably would have told you otherwise. I know this jewler who sold a customer a ring and her diamond kept getting loose so she kept going back to the store to complain and he got so fed up with her that he ended up using some strong adhesive glue and just gluing the diamond on to the setting!!! Jewelers do crazy things, trust me.

WOW.. note to self NEVER get anything from Kay..

We do all our jewelry shopping at Jareds, and they are awesome, what I also like about them is that you can always trade up.. Which is great, because it makes those 1.5 carat diamond studs more obtainable (for us at least.. lol) Cain got my E-ring through them and my wedding band and they went above and beyond when they did some work to my wedding band so that it worked better with my E-ring.

Definitly try to transfer over, you'll be MUCH happier..

I'm so very sorry that you have had this experience.....As far as i'm concerned, I would totally go to the top of this place and demand some TLC. It is a big enough company that they should be able to help out a little more than they have. My fi bought mine from a small store in our city that will do anything in their power to help and make us feel that we have the most beautiful diamonds in the world! (which we do, it really is beautiful!)

Demand more from them....that's what i would do...not to mention that you have already spent a fortune!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
