Anyone use a wedding planner?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I was hoping to get some advice on whether or not using a wedding planner is necessary....I am getting married next April at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum and we have started the planning process. We already have a TA, but I met with another TA/destination wedding planner to ask some questions and see if maybe hiring her was a better way to go. I was wondering if anyone else has hired a planner, and if so was it worth it? I'm asking mainly because we really want to do the private outdoor poolside reception, and the cost of hiring the planner would pretty much cover the cost of the private reception! I'm getting worried I won't be able to handle all the planning on my own, especially since I've never been to this resort before. I know there are lots of GBP brides out there, did any of you use one, or did you find it was ok doing it yourself?

Thanks a bunch!

Does GBP have a WC the you are able to use? For our resort the WC is great at getting back to me and I totally feel like she can handle everything we need to do. I'm sure others who have gotten married there will be able to give you more advice...

I'm getting married in Akumal and we're doing our own private wedding. We're having the ceremony in front of the Cannon House, and the reception in the North Palapa of the Hotel Akumal Caribe. I've been able to plan out our entire wedding. I haven't been to the hotel either but i know several people who have been there. My wedding is in August so I've had lots of time to do DIY projects. I'm almost done and i've only spent $5000 total and to book a WC it was another $1100. So my mom and mother-in-law will be setting up everything for me on my wedding day.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your replies! I do have a WC at the resort I can use, but so far she hasn't responded to me lol....apparently this is normal for Jazmin (the WC on the Tulum side) but it still stresses me out big time. I know April is a busy time for weddings, and I'm anxious about getting all the things I really want, especially since they have more than 1 wedding per day :S.

from my experience, and from what i've read on here, a lot of the wcs are really bad about getting back to you until your wedding is like a month away. mine was really lackadaisical until about a month before. i also lit a fire under her ass by having my ta call her boss. i would see if anyone else responds about your specific wc, and then look into it - is the peace of mind worth the money?

you may want to ask a mod to move this to mexico forum - it may get more responses there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
