I just got back this morning, and everything was PERFECT!!! (well, not everything, but everything wedding related was!).

I will write a full review of the Barcelo Maya, but my initial takeaway is: big, beautiful resort, huge huge huge, the wedding and wedding coordinators were fantastic, the wedding was perfect in every way. The only negative is that everything to do with the front desk and room reservations was a bit of a nightmare... People waiting an hour or two to check in, our guests all being in the same hotel, but suddenly being told to move to other hotels, half the guests being changed to another hotel half way through... But in general, other than the room problems, and once people were all checked in, everyone had a great time, and the whole thing was fantastic!!!!! Ugh, so miserable to be home!

I don't have any pics yet, but will send when I do!

Hi,

Does anyone know the current situation with photography at this resort?

Is there a fee... or a certain amount of days they must stay?

Honesty I fell in love with Matt Adcock's photography and it has basically inspired my whole idea for a destination wedding. I would love more than anything for him, his wife, or his associate to capture my day. I just don't know if it will be possible at the Barcelo?

I had no problems at all. They say absolutely NO outside photographers, but I asked my wedding coordinator if one of my guests could be my photographer (wasn't a guest at all, I hired Elizabeth Medina, who was fantastic), and they said so long as she stayed at the resort for 1 night, it was acceptable. I printed out that email just incase for confirmation, but never needed it. Nobody ever asked any questions, and honestly, nobody cared or saw/said anything. It was totally fine. And well well worth it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
