Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I know I'm asking a ton of questions!! Lol Everytime I hit post, I think of something else!!!

For the ceremony, I want my kids to read a poem to their "to-be" Step-dad and also have someone read something in remembrance of my mom and his dad (both deceased). Does the resort limit the time of the ceremony? I have bridesmaids and groomsmen walking down to music, I'm coming down to music, etc.

Thank God for you guys!!!! Getting answers from the WC is like contacting the President!!! Lol

I believe they allocate a maximum 1 hr- but most only last 1/2hr. Just go through it with your onsite WC at your meeting. You may also want to send it ahead to your Miami WC so it's on file how you want the ceremony to flow.

Dress on the plane- not a problem... Planes will normally allow you to hang it in a closet or lay it in an overhead bin,

As for customs- bring your receipts for anything you plan on leaving there. Max per person is $400 worth of good like this. So split in between your FI and you and all good, it's Mexico/ so customs can be slow and you wills need to push the magical red/green button that could land on green and have you opening all your bags for the officer- but it's not an issue if you have your receipts. Explain you are getting married- they see this type of thing all the time and it's not illegal to travel with any of that.

Make sure you don't have sparklers or matches in your suitcase and you are good!

Go to your FAA regulations! Sparklers are considered a combustible and are not permitted for air travel. They can inadvertently spark or catch fire (unlikely yes- but a possibility) and could be extremely dangerous to the plane and passengers. It falls under the realm of explosives.

Has anyone thought of Chinese lanterns? Wonder of te resort would allow that?

There is tons of information regarding this in this thread... Read through and all your answers will be found! (Wishing lanterns that you let go in the sky are not permitted in the region/or the resort but yes Chinese lanterns are used for decor by many brides.

Hi

We got married last Sunday and I had a full length dress. I didn't think it was too heavy but oh my goodness was it hot! I am from Texas and I am used to heat and humidity, but once you get that dress on its a whole new story. Our wedding was at 79% humidity and the reception 90% and I had to sign off acknowledging that I knew it was that high and was going to do it outside still. I didn't bring another dress as I spent a lot of money on my dress and was determined to wear it all night. We got married on the beach and the reception Plaza Zavas. Because of the location there was not a breeze at the reception. I stuck it out and I'm glad I did because I will have tons of pictures in my dress. But be prepared. I know it sounds odd but I wish I had a handkerchief with me as I was using an extra hand towel to keep me cool. I know that sounds like TMI but I think all brides should hear this. We had a private dinner on the beach the next night for the 2 of us and there was a reception on the beach nearby. Much more of a breeze there but I still preferred the Plaza Zavas location.

Hi Ladies,

I was wandering if anyone experienced the weather being too hot/humid or uncomfortable to wear a gown through the night. Our reception is at the plaza zavaz. And its on September 28th. My dress is not super heavy its Tulle trumpet gown with a ruffled skirt.

Thank you to all the contributors!

Eli

They let me hang my dress at the front. That shouldn't be a problem.

As for customs. You press a button and it will either be green or red. I was in a large group and everyone got green to go through and I got the red. So they had to search my bags and I had alllllll the wedding decorations and we brought a lot. They asked what it was and I explained I was getting married and there were no issues. I had receipts just in case but they didn't ask to see them. They didn't even unwrap all the decorations. So it really wasn't an issue. :)

Hello Brides,

I'm getting married on the beach and having my reception at Zavaz on Oct 11th and was wondering what customs was like as I'm traveling to and from with majority of my decorations. I'm bringing organza for the gazebo, tulle for the chair bows, bouquets I made, decorations for the chairs that line the aisle, centerpiece supplies, favors, fun shades, candles, votives, etc.....

Does anyone know what that process will be like?

Also, can I take my dress on the plane?? attachicon.gifimage.jpg

I think this might be difficult to pull off. There are 2 major gates you have to go through before getting on the property and the vendors have to check in. Also when we arrived at the resort there was 6 of us and they had to make sure all our names were on the list. Every time you go to a restaurant you have to provide your room number and name. If you get bottles of wine, spa services, etc it is billed to the room and you pay at check out.

We used an outside photographer and they discounted our package $600 to off set the vendor fee. Might want to see if they would work w you.

Hope this helps.

Thank you @@linaco80 ....that's good to know, I didn't realize they had to check in as well like the other guests.  I will keep you posted as well and please do the same for me :)

Thank you so much!! So it's the travel home that I need to have receipts for?Another inquiry, I'm bringing my own DJ as a guest (he's a friend). He has the equipment that he needs (laptop and whatever that other box is called) minus a speaker!! Has anyone thought of this? Had to rent a speaker?

Yes, you can rent a speaker set up from the resort. I think it was $250??? , but not sure of the current cost. It also comes with a microphone. We rented the system and it was great.

Also please take the time to read this thread about customs:

You will have lots of time to add personal touches into the ceremony. The legal ceremony takes about 30minutes, while the ceremonial service takes about 20 mins. There is no set time limit, but remember you and your guests will be sitting in the sun...so be kind and don't add too much! When you get to the resort just advise the WC that you would like to add the poems, vows, etc to the ceremony. They will advise the minister and then you will be able to coordinate where in the ceremony this can occur. I know due to legal issues, if you are doing the legal service, they have to follow a strict order.

As someone who works in aviation....please be aware sparklers fall under the explosives category!!! It is 100% ILLEGAL to fly with them. For your safely and well being, please leave them at home!

Cj1053- Congratulations! You look beautiful :) (and it was worth sweating, to look that fabulous!)

Tiffany- Welcome to the forum! Please take a moment to read this thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/72018-official-azul-sensatori-thread/

It will help you with a bunch of your questions. Happy planning! In regards to Chinese lanterns, the paper ones to hang as decor are fine. If you refer to the floating ones, they are not allowed (this is because many of the buildings on the resort have reed roofs and there is a fear of catching things on fire).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
