A few months to go and have A TON of details to figure out. Most importantly is flowers, trying to decide between stargazer lillies and cala lillies.... hmmm!

But congrats to all the brides who have already gotten married at Azul!

Thank you so much for this!  I feel so much better about what I am going to do and HOW!  What a great idea!!!  LOL.....

I definitely would like to salvage our relationship, but don't want to lose out on what my dream was for myself getting married and my MOH.

I am trying really hard to remember this is about US...not everyone else...(not usually my outtake on things)!!

I was really hoping that someone out there that is getting married would say exactly what you said to ease my mind!!!  I just didn't know if I was being too harsh!  I agree, I am going to have a talk with her today and see how it goes, but I think I am ready to test her with "the twist" on how busy we are going to start getting!  ;)

I do have my best friend who knows exactly what is going on, and would be willing to step up if need be, or stand WITH the accused MOH....LOL...whatever I want is what she will do, and she totally understands!  (thank goodness!)

Thanks again, I feel SO MUCH BETTER about my predicament!

It is YOUR wedding and you should in no way just "suck it up".  However its much easier for an outsider to suggest to dump her and find someone better.  Would you be willing to risk completely losing her as a friend?  You'd like to think that would never happen, but considering there is already some friction, it could be possible, and you'd have to be prepared for it.  Make sure you arent just mad about these recent events and forgetting about any qualities that made you chose her as your MOH to begin with.

Have you asked her if she really wants to be your MOH?  You could always turn it into her idea!  Its sneaky, but you could test the waters by saying "planning is about to start getting really hectic (name a few examples of what you'd want her to do) and I know how crazy busy you are and would completely understand if you'd rather be a bridesmaid (or just a guest)".   I think that is the route I would take if you are trying to keep your friendship.

Did she give a reason for asking if you are really in love???  That is such an insane thing to ask a best friend that just got engaged!!!

Do you have a back-up MOH?  In my 18 months of planning I was very surprised at the people that have helped me and been excited for me...and the ones that could care less.  Its definitely one way to find your true friends.

Ok, I'll step out of my therapist chair now :)

Thanks for adding me to the Bridal List! Makes me feel so special & happy :)

Anyone decide on a photographer yet? I am working with a $2000 budget but don't want to sacrifice the pictures, its the most important thing to me. Any advice?

Also I would love some input on flowers! My dress is ivory/champage and I've choosen a blush pink for my bridesmaid. I was originally thinking stargazer lillies but I also love the idea of cala lillies. What are your suggestions?

One flower suggestion I have is to look into Real Touch flowers. I got them for my wedding and they are AWESOME! I think there are pictures way back in the forum.

Also I think if you start ready about page 800 or so there is so much awesome info!!!

As your date gets a little closer you could try talking to other brides getting married the same week as you.  There are 4 of us the first week of May sharing an awesome photographer and we got an amazing deal.  I would have never thought it could be affordable to fly your own photographer in...but it really is possible!

Ladies, I just want to say thank you for all of your posts on this forum.  I don't think I will ever make it out of newbie status.  A special thanks to Maggie and Jaime for answering specific questions/issues that I had.  I am happy to say that our RSVP suspense date is over, we have our final count, all choices have been made, and we have paid for everything.

The only advice that I really have for brides-to-be:  If you are not satisfied with your wedding coordinator rand/ or travel agent that you received, and you went through DW.com, follow your gut instinct.  Don't worry about rocking the boat because this is YOUR day (and your FI's) of course!  It took my sister getting really ticked off and contacting destinationweddings.com for things to really get on track for me.  From the moment she did that, I was told to contact them.  I was so over my first coordinator that I even dreaded making the call. I am so glad that I did. I was almost immediately assigned a new person at DW.com and at LOMAS, and things have been WONDERFUL ever since.  I mean it was a TOTAL 360 degree turn. If I had known this, I would have made the change before my sister complained.  Special thanks to Debbie Ryan at DW.com and Elizabeth Riff at LOMAS.  If you get either of these ladies, you can put ALL worries behind you. They will surely make you feel like you and your wedding are a priority.  I cannot say enough good things about my experience with these two ladies.  Very caring, very professional.  I am sure there are other great employees at both of these companies, but these two are my shining stars.  I don't know if I should have put them out there like that, but they deserve recognition.

I will still be lurking around the site from time to time to see how everyone is doing and to wish the new brides congratulations.  Right now I am just so pleased to know that all I have left to do is put the song list together, show up for my final fitting for my gown, and decide how I am going to wear my hair.  Thanks again for everything ladies!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
