Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Paradise Catamarans are awesome. There was a girl Carrie on here who got married at AS and she used them twice during her wedding week and raved about them.

We are paying for transport to and from our hotel (50 mins) and then alcohol for the drinks and snacks for everyone. I believe we have 35 people going and the total is just over $2100. Fi's parents are paying for it like the "Rehearsal Dinner" we would have had if we'd had a traditional wedding. We literally booked this last night. You pay 20% down and then the rest you can mail a check a week before you leave to their address in Rhode Island.

Also, we are doing a trip to Selevatica for the zipline tours which is $90 pp including transport from our hotel.

Lastly, we are doing a night in Cancun clubbing. The RT vans are like $250 each and carry 12 people. I used Riveria Maya Excursions for this.

DJs:

What is this about 3500 for the bells and whistles DJ? I saw $1500 for a DJ on the price sheet and thats it, I didn't know there are options for DJs? I was really hoping that $1500 would include the balloons, glow bracelets, and the other props.

Just wanted to see what they did with food, etc. since I am at a loss. We are only having 16 guests, which includes 5 children, so I was curious what they did.

But it's strange, the thread is just completely MIA! Oh well! :)

And Amy - totally go the cheesy route!
Hi Suzanne! What sort of dinner are you looking to do? Private or non-private?

Honestly, the guests that don't go at all or choose to stay at a different resort will feel like complete douchebags after. Seriously. I wouldn't waste my time trying to convince them... they just won't get it until after the fact unfortunately. However, I promise you that you won't miss them. I swear :)

My FI was really excited about them in the beginning and had an idea of what he wanted, so I let him basically choose what we did for the invites. Over christmas I said we needed to get them done, and it never happened. Then he promised that he would work on them this weekend and get a good chunk done (I have been working on the already pretty much on my own)....that didn't happen. Last night he said he would do them....he cut 10 pieces of paper and glued them, and some of them he even glued on crooked! He is extremely artsy and probably more capable than I am of making them look nice. I'm so frustrated because I went with his idea for the invites, and he isn't even making much of an effort to do them!
Sorry for ranting, but just needed to vent. Aside from that, I have such a stressful job this year and when I come home from school and see that the invites weren't done, I'm not in a good mood!

My advice for this scenario - don't allow men to do anything wedding related unless you absolutely don't care about it lol. DH had ONE responsibility throughout our whole wedding planning process and that was to make the appointment for our rings. I ended up cutting off any sort of physical contact, if you know what i mean, just to get him to take care of it. The end.
P.S I didn't ask him to do anything after that.... it wasn't worth my sanity.

If anyone has pictures or advice I would greatly appreciate it! Or if you could let me know how accommodating the staff at Sensatori is? Prices? Etc...

This is all so overwhelming at first!!!
I agree with Katie, reading through the thread is by far the most helpful route to go. To sum it up quickly..... The food is awesome, the service is amazing, the prices for extra's are ridiculous, the WC - I wasn't overly thrilled with but my wedding was great!

Hey Meghan, I can totally sympathize with you. Sounds like you need to schedule Saturday morning and afternoon to do them together. I feel if you can put aside time to do them maybe he'll get more serious. Tell him guests are asking when the invites were going out and Etiquette says 6 months for destination wedings (I made that up, but I'd say it to him anyways).

I had to send Mark an email telling him that I was upset that he had a few things to do and hasn't done them yet while I have been planning the wedding for the 2 of us and only asking for his input on decisions to be made. That made him relaize he needed to step up.

Good luck girl@!

I think all of our fiances are the same! My fiance said he really wanted to help with the save the dates; I had a few girlfriends who offered, but my fiance was dead-set that he wanted to help. I set an evening to do it, he made ONE and then decided he wanted to go play Halo instead---gah!! From now on, all of the DIY projects are going to be done with my girlfriends, lol.

AmyB, I think you should do the backdrop and make it as incredibly cheesy as possible :)

AmyKH, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your BD pics! You look absolutely stunning. After seeing yours, I was motivated to start going to the gym/eating better. My session is at the end of March, so I have some time to get in shape!

We're happy to have you and answer any questions you may have :)

Here are some of my favorite things to do that get me MOST excited about my upcoming weddding:

Here's Elizabeth Medina's blog and I searched for AS, click on the different weddings to see the pictures:

Elizabeth Medina Photography

Here's one at Azul from Claudia Rodriguez

http://www.claudiaphoto.com/alberto/matt_andrea/

My second favorite thing to do is search planning threads on this forum. There are four AS planning threads I can think of off the top of my head...

Tracey
KatKen
Nicole
Milejo

These are so helpful with all the details and whatnot. There is a lot to do planning a wedding but these girls keep me sane and grounded and they are your best support system!

Katies suggestion was probably the best, reading through this entire forum will really get you up to speed quickly, it's what everyone does first thing when they get here.

We also have bi-weekly to-do's and check in with each other which really helps. Just remember to do one thing at a time, doin't do one million things at a time (like I keep trying to do) it just ends up getting very stressful.

Good luck, ask us any question you want!

Hahaha Renee - Halo OMG lol! Ya ladies, the faster we learn that men just aren't into that the better off we'll be :)

Think about it... how long would you last if you were helping FI clean parts for a car, or shopping for fishing boats or somthing like that? Men and woman are different and its ok lol. It doesn't mean that he doesn't care about the wedding.

Ooo good question, I don't know where they live.

I know! I wish you'd come crash my wedding, that would be awesome :)

Absolutely, I'll be out there Monday, May 3rd with my laptop so let me know if you want to meet :)

Wow, this is all information that I needed! I want to do a zip line tour and also know that we planned on renting vans for transportation into Cancun for my bachelorette party :)

Thanks so much for this info!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
