Hi - I'm not getting married until Aug 8th, but I've been working with Victoria for a couple months. She's been great so far! She's seems really organized and generally answers all my questions. Also she usually gets back to me within a week (I've heard other coordinators don't respond for weeks!).

Have fun planning!

Here's a question regarding outside vendors...

If people were wondering...I just booked an outside DJ, Discomovil (WAY cheaper then the resorts btw), and if you use their generator ($200) you do NOT have to pay an outside DJ fee. Their deposit was only $100 as well...kind of nice. We also booked an outside photographer, Ivan Luckie (his work is awesome)...and our option, like stated in here before, was paying either a fee of $500 or paying for a room for 2 nights (at ANY Barcelo resort). Obviously if you book at Barcelo Maya Beach, this option is quite a bit cheaper...around $300ish. So we are going with that option...however, I know this room is "supposed to" be for the photographer to use (right?)...but how does the photographer know if you paid the fee or booked the room stay? Couldn't one of my family member use that room we paid for? My step-dad is recently unemployed and I'm worried about how he'll be able to get to my wedding on a strict budget...this would help him if I paid for two of his nights with this room...does that make sense? What did other people do with that room they booked for the outside vendor? Did their photographers want to use it? Let me know! Thanks girls!

Also, if anyone wants more info on either the DJ or photographer let me know!

I'm working with Xhail right now in finalizing plans...including the dinner options, cake options, timing of events etc. She's been helpful, but yes, she takes awhile to answer your emails! So I have a lot of other information I can share if someone would like it!

Sure! I don't know how to attach things here (if you even can), but if you message me your email address I can send all the attachments and info I have gathered. I think I have the info on the flowers and the menu and maybe a few other things. :) Here's some info on the cake I just took from an email as there's not attachment or anything for that. I just sent her a picture of a cake I really liked and she said the chef could do just about anything:

Regarding the cake, this is not included in the fee that you will pay for

every extra guest over 15, if you want to up grade the cake it is possible,

the price is $68 usd for a two tier cake (feed 20-30 people) or $96 usd for

a 3 tier cake (feed 50 - 60 people). The options to choose from are: Round

or square shape and the flavors can be vanilla, strawberry, pineapple,

coconut or chocolate.

I'm going to have around 60 people so I'm getting a 3 tier round cake and I'm getting bottom flavor chocolate, middle vanilla, and top coconut...so they really can do whatever you want with that. Otherwise let me know if you're looking for anything else specifically in your message.

Less then three months to go for me! I'm getting SO excited!

What is everyone doing for bridesmaid gifts?! I need some ideas! I got them personalized tumblers and tank tops when I asked them to be in my wedding and I got my MOH a beach bag. Feel free to throw out some ideas:)

I'm doing a personalized beach bag, a big beach towel, I made their necklaces for the wedding, and I also bought them all pink silk robes (because those will make for some adorable getting ready photos). I’ll probably throw in some other things like lip gloss, sun screen, etc. I think it's great to provide them with the jewelry you want them to wear and I got the robes which were way cheaper than I thought I could get here: http://www.weddingprepgals.com/?gclid=CIWJ393zj70CFeY-MgodTTUACw They look adorable by the way! You could always just pitch in to get their hair or something done too... :)

Hey guys,

I'm getting married at the Barcelo Maya Palace deluxe on June 18th. Are there any other brides getting  married around the same time?? My wedding coordinatror is Victoria - anybody else has the same one??

Oh so close! I'll be the week before on the 12th! Isn't time just flying by now?? :)

Could you email me the pictures as well? blueair1@@gmail.com Thanks!!

I'm definitely doing the lights on the tree. I can confirm that the lights on the trees are $5 a piece. I think the way it looks is totally worth it! I'm also going to hang up puffy paper balls that I'll bring myself, Xhail told me would only be an extra $40 to put up. I saw them in someone elses pictures and it looked adorable.

It was mentioned in my email that white napkins are included in the package but if I wanted to do a color it would be extra, anyone know how much more? Also, I noticed in another picture on here, someone had the white tablecloths and then a smaller cream colored (that matched the ribbons on the chairs) tablecloth over the white for their reception tables. That looked really nice with the two colors, I am assuming that will cost extra as well (doesn't it all!). Anyone know anything about using a different color tablecloth?

One more question...I'm deciding on what I want to do for my centerpieces. What did other people do? I am thinking I want to bring my own, or at least bring parts of it myself since their options are kind of expensive. I feel like I could make a lot of their centerpieces for like $5 and not the $30 they are charging. Did anyone bring their own centerpieces to set up? Did you mail items to the resort prior to you arriving? I suppose mailing a big box of things can get expensive too so it's possible I may not even save that much money mailing the items. I want nice centerpieces but I don't think I'm willing to pay so much for them...just trying to cut costs where I can! Anyone have creative ideas about this?

I have pictures of the centerpieces they offer, pictures of the bouquets, and meal options so far if anyone needs them! Let me know!

Hi can I please have pics of the centerpieces and bouquets they offer! [email protected] Thank you so much!

I'm getting married at the Palalce...I didn't catch where you were getting married? I'm doing most of the decor myself. I did purchase a flowered huppa for the ceremony and flower centerpieces for the reception tables both from the resort. I am also paying for lights on the palm trees. Other than that I'm bringing the rest...along with the flower centerpieces, I'm bringing raised glass plates to put the flower centerpieces on so they stand out a little more, four floating candles for each table decorated with shells, my table numbers pieces, and some other misc. decor for a card table. Mostly lots of candles with some shell accents. OH! Also...for $40 they will hang the tissue puff balls from the palm trees too...so I'm going to make a bunch of those in pink, blue, white, and cream colors to bring with. I don't think you need to go crazy with decor as the location will be gorgeous already! I DO love the look of the lights on the palm trees...and it's only $5 a tree! So I'm going crazy with that...I think the look of all the lights and candles will be perfecto. :)

Hello Ladies,

I did hear back from the coordinator. I asked how much would it cost and how many lanterns does she recommend I bring. Here is her response:

As for the lanterns and the pom poms you can bring those, but is important that you have it ready to set up; I recommend that you bring for the Palmeras Grill, 40 pieces of lanterns and pom poms, mixed. If you want to have the lanterns hanging from the ceiling lighted up this could be quoted

I won't be lighting the lanterns since I am already paying to light up the palm trees.

Hope this helps!

Hey!!

I bought my bridesmaids the shoes they will wear the day of the wedding. They paid for their dress and can get their own jewelry. I also bought them personalized tote bags and passport covers from Etsy. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
