We stayed 2 weeks at the Palace, and hope to return to the Barcelo again and if we do we plan to stay at the Palace again. All of our guests loved it and hope to return aswell, also to the Palace. Guests that stayed at the Tropical said next time they will pay the extra to stay at the Palace. We saw the rooms at the Tropical and the Palace are definitely much nicer and newer. If you can afford it it's worth the extra money to book the Palace.

As far as the upgrade to stay at the Palace, what does everyone think of it...is it worth it??

Hi Joanne! I have a question about the rehearsal dinner as I am debating whether to pay extra to have it private.  I will have about 40 adults and 8 children all staying at the Palace.  Did you have a lot of people at yours?  It seems you didn't pay for the Palace guests...were you able to just make a large reservation?  Thanks!

Hi! We had the reservation made before we left for Mexico. I gave our w/c our preferred date and time for our welcome dinner and asked what the options were. She came back stating Rodizio (The Brazilian Restaurant) at the Palace could accomodate my request. I knew we would have to pay the $15 per guest not at the Palace (probably why they offered this restuarant!!), but it was worth as it was only 4 people were not staying at the Palace, plus our guests at the Palace did not have to trek across the huge resort to get to dinner on time, and in addition everyone loved the Brazilian! The appetizer course was buffet and it was really nice, and the main course was actually 7 courses of different meat which they served right off of huge skewers, it was a lot of fun and our guests really enjoyed it. Talk about meat sweats!!

We actually had our welcome 2 days before the wedding (i did not want to be drinking the night before and I was worried about my hubby going a bit overboard with the lads) so we were missing a fewfor this dinner, but i think there were about 20 of us.

If they can't fit a huge party into a restaurant I've read online that they will section off a private area of the buffet for you.

Great review !

What was the additional cost to have the hair and make up guys reserve their time for you and your wedding party? I am getting married in June, do you think it is necessary to book them now? I have read great reviews about them and I would love to have them !

Were you pleased over  all with the decor for your indoor reception? I am leaning more towards the indoor reception due to our budget and the amount of guest that we will have.

Thank you for your help.

Hey Ladies,

We are putting together our webinar schedule for BDW.  These webinars are great because not only can you get YOUR questions answered but also hear answers to questions from other brides that you may not have even though of :)

Webinars are a great way to not only hear directly from the wedding department but see the wedding packages that they offer, ceremony/reception pics, etc.

I try to only limit the webinars to once every 2 weeks so we of course can not do all resorts.

Please vote on which resorts you would like to have webinars on...you can choose more than 1.

Just wondering if anyone knows if Barcelo has chairs for the ceremony that look nice without chair covers? I would prefer not to use chair covers, but if they only have ugly chairs, I will make do!

Also, I spoke to Claudia the other day and she said that there is no charge for guests staying at the other Barcelo hotels (beach, caribe, etc) to attend a palace wedding.

Any other April 2012 brides?! :)

I am not sure what chair options they have available.  Did you ask Claudia to send you photos of all the options?

Lillian told me the same thing about guests staying at lower end hotels at the resort did not have to pay to attend a Palace wedding or reception.

Hello! I messaged them back and asked for clarification on the $15 being for guests external to Barcelo or at the Barcelo and she replied:

"if you stay at the Palace and your guest at the other hotels, they can come but only for the ceremony and the reception, but between cermony and reception and when finished the reception they need to go back"

Whew, that makes me feel better that we won't have that added cost!!!

Has anyone ordered off the new menu recently??  Trying to decide on our menu and would LOVE some suggestions from anyone who's recently ordered for their menu or tried the food!  It's tough without having any pictures of the food or knowing what they all taste like. Thanks!!

Can you post the menu? We got married there in November and not sure if ours was the old or new menu.

Soup :              Onion Soup with Gruyere Cheese Crostini

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
