Anyone planning a wedding at the Riu in Montego Bay? I am a little nervous that it is not opening until august and it doesn't seem like they can give me much information except for whether or not the date is available.

Also, I am starting to feel a little nervous that I chose Jamaica...people keep telling me that they had problems with people begging them for money? I

guess this is only outside the resorts though? Thanks for the Input!

We were there and had no one begging us for money... We didn't go off of the resort except when we went shopping and to Dunn's River...but even still we didn't get that. But just like any city you go to, you just politely tell them no and they will leave you alone.

Now they did however offer us weed and when we went to go shoping at the craft market...EVERYONE wanted you to come to their tables to look at their crafts. Now that gets very overbearing because they try and make you buy something. After Day 1, I learned to just ignore folks because sometimes saying No Thanks doesn't work...just a warning. These situations that occurred are by no means reasons to not go to Jamaica, they are very small compared to everything else that is so wonderful. Trust me. There's gotta be some truth to why EVERYBODY (and they mama...lol) is going to Jamaica. No worries...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
