Hiya! New ROR Bride Here...Questions!

Recommended Posts

Hiya!

Well this is it..the date is set and I'm well into planning.

I've spent some time reading threads on this board and got some good tips! Thanks!

A few details of my wedding...

My name is Tanya and I am happy to say that I am marrying Jeff. We are getting married at ROR on November 19, 2008. We will be married in the gazebo not on the beach. So far it's a small wedding with maybe 10 people. I have purchased the Royal Wedding Package, additional champagne & flowers for my MOH & BM.

I plan on having a small dinner - restaurant suggestions would be great! We are getting married at 11am. This will allow time for pics, champagne etc. before dinner. I hadn't planned on renting the disco at all so if you can offer any suggestions for somewhere to chill after dinner that would be great!

Flowers...what do they have to offer? We are going with a light blue/tan..does anyone know what colors are available for flowers?

I planned on having a day trip to Dunn's Falls with the wedding party - our gift with a girls/guys night. Any suggestions for on favours would be great too!

Are you sick of me yet? I'm just really not sure what to expect. Ohh pictures..the package I got includes 12 pics, cd & album..are additional pics expensive. I'm planning on having my aunt take a few pics too cause I really don't want to pay for extras.

So.. all in all I'm nervous because I don't know what to expect and emailing the resort seems to be a bit tideous since it takes forever for a reply - rightfully so I'm sure she's busy!

Thanks again...I'll be sure to put a pic in my siggy soon!

Congrats, and welcome to the forum. As I am sure you have found, there is a LOT of info on here. Coming from a bride with a small guest list as well, my advise would be don't get overwhelmed... Only do what you feel comfortable with (i.e. my fiance and I can't afford to do things like the dj, etc.) and with such a small amount you can do things to make everything really personal!

As to the flowers question, it pretty much sounds like you can bring pictures of what you like and they can try to match it for you, but they are pricey.

Good luck on all your planning, this site will be a great help!

welcome.gif There are lots of ROR brides here! Make sure you look through the Jamaica threads. There's info on the types of flowers they offer, information about the restaurants, picture packages, and all sorts of other stuff. I don't have a lot of time right now so I can't direct you to the exact threads. Also check out the reviews from the brides that are just returning. They give good reviews and you get to see pictures.

I'm finding that myself and a lot of the other brides or soon to be's are going with the free package and then doing any desired upgrades...a little less expensive than the "upgraded" packages they offer at the resort...Just a thought.

I would second the motion on looking into the free package...you can just do the upgrades you wish. I am doing wedding location upgrades and maybe some pictures.
If there is anything, I can help with just give me shout!!
Happy planning and enjoy!

welcome1.gif to the forum!! You're getting married on my birthday! rolleyes.gif

Here's my advice...we booked Royal before going there. And were treated like Royals with upgrade to full suite! wink.gif But at our meeting with Chandlyn, I told her we wanted to change to free. And we were, no problem. But...I think the Royal helped us with the upgrade!

...I wasn't trying to be sneaky!!!

Anyway, HAPPY PLANNING! You'll be on the beach saying your I Do's before you know it!

Lizz - You ROCK! Thanks! Heading to bed now (work nights) so I'll have to check out all those threads later!

I booked the Royal package because I'm anticipating alot of people going at this point. I couldn't afford to book 5 rooms to start off with wink.gif

I'm ok with the package because it seemed to have everything I wanted.

Thank again for the very warm welcome & answering my questions!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
