A little dissappointed

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I want to start off my saying that I feel terrible writing this...but I need to!

So my shower date has been set for about a month and a half now (6-7-08!) so I have been looking forward to it! I have my dress, gotten my hair done, started tanning again, etc. My sister has been so awesome in everything she has done for my wedding, shower, bach party, etc. But, last week she got a new job and found out she has to be out of town (Atlanta) for training for 2 weeks, which happens to be the same weekend of my shower. Her training includes weekends, so she can't come back for that weekend. I am so happy for her and so proud of her finally landing a good job but now, my shower date has to be changed. My other bridesmaid and friends are all super crazy busy and already have plans for the rest of the month. Now, it looks like my shower won't be until July 26th! On top of it, one of my other bridesmaids isn't willing to give up things that she has planned in order to have my shower. For example, her husband's niece has a dance recital one weekend in June...so she can't do it that weekend. I don't know, I guess I just feel that if it were me, I would compromise a little more.

Plus, my bach party has been scheduled for August 9th, which means that the shower and bach party would only be 2 weeks apart from each other. I have some friends that will be driving 4-5 hours to get there, and I just feel bad having btoh events so close together. I could do the shower and the bach party all in one weekend, but sometimes those seems so rushed and leave everyone completely drained by the end of it. So I don't know...I guess I am just a little dissappointed. Is that totally stupid?

Sorry you are disappointed. It's always a dilemma when someone's good news affects our own plans. At least you have a bridal party who is willing to work on changing the date. It could be a lot worse if your sister just couldn't be there.

Try not to be too upset about the bridesmaid's niece's recital. How would you feel if she suddenly found out about the recital and said she couldn't make it to your shower? I know it's disappointing, especially having to wait a little longer.

While I do agree that having the shower and bachelorette party in one day would be easier I can only imagine how exhausted everyone will be. We just talked about this at my bachelorette party this weekend and girls were telling horror stories of doing this and how everyone was so tired towards the end of the night that they didn't have fun.

Sorry to hear things are up in the air for you as far as parties, big bummer.

Especially with gas prices! I'll drive at most 30 minutes for a shower. I even skip them when they are in my town. Just not into showers I guess. I went to way too many one summer & got burnt out.

I'm sorry you are disappointed!! if this helps-- we had my shower and bach party combined.... The shower started at 7:30PM and was alot of fun-- then at 10PM we left to go downtown for bachorlette part-- the "scheduling" part worked out really well, and both ended up being alot of fun...Good luck- hope you figure everything out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
