A little bit of background- my husband co-owns Sand & Sun Vacations with me. He usually books dive travel but is starting to get more involved in the Romance Travel and assist me with the Bridal Shows and booking honeymoons. So he went to the Sandals Destination wedding training with me. Poor thing- he was the only guy with 22 women (20 travel agents and two Sandals representatives)!. He caught grief from day one!

After out classroom training we were treated to a mock reception- they wanted us to experience what the food and banquet facilities were like for an inside reception. We enjoyed lunch and I went to use the ladies room. When I came back the wedding coordinators at the Grande Ocho rios had given him a rose to present to me and had placed the cake in front of us.

I came in- went to sit down when I realized he was standing, about as red in the face as he could get and there was THE cake. I DO NOT like being the center of attention......I was like-"You have to be kidding me!" He hands me the rose, the WC comes over and has us cut the cake, do the bird feeding ( you put the cake in his mounth and then kiss) and then all of a sudden in comes a sax player for our first dance! They had the photographer come in taking pics- I am not photogenic at all! Plus in my shock there were very few pics where my mounth was not wide open.

If I had known we would have dressed a little more appropriatly and I would have been made up- at this point we were tired, I had ditched the heels and we figured it was classroom time so no need to look good!

That's so cute! I think it's great that you guys can share your career with someone. FI is in banking and I own my own catering/event business so sometimes he just doesn't get where I'm coming from. I love that you can work and play together!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
