I guess that just depends on your relationship with them. If you have a really open relationship.. Just tell them they mean so much to you and you are so glad they can make it to the the wedding... and you are sorry you couldn't have more bridesmaids. Just so they know they mean something to you. I am not explaining to my friends why they weren't choosen. Of course I am only having three. But it's your choice and your day and if they want to support you they will no matter what.

Just make sure if you ask them, you aren't going to "unask" them. I had a friend who had to ask someone NOT to be in her wedding and it was the hardest decision and thing to do. Also, FI's sister got married last August, off the bat she asked me to be in it...then decided on just having 2 bridesmaids, her FI's sister and her bestfriend from childhood. While I understood, I was still a little hurt that she didn't think about it before asking. (although, she did include me in EVERYTHING)
Thank you! absolutely, If i ask, it will be for sure, no turning back now! Its weird, because at this point i don't care about the number, (which i was worried about before-having too many bridesmaids) its more about the closeness of our relationship. Neither of these girls I feel like should be standing up there with me. but i Just feel bad
I have been thinking about the small things for example the bacholerette party and Mary being the only one thats not a BM. And then at the wedding when we go take pictures she will be the ONLY one not going with us.

I think that if you feel you have to explain things, then by all means, do. If you think that it will just complicate things and get messy by trying to make them feel better by having to explain your choices, then don't, just let it happen and enjoy your day.

I would just have the original 8, and let Mary wonder. If she asks, or if someone else asks for her, just tell her thr truth, you were struggling with your decision, and decided that since even tho you hang out and have fun in a group, you are not that close with her and you figured she would understand.

As for Lori, I would leave it, and not ask her, and tell her the same if the question comes up, except tell her that you were struggling with the decision and you thought she would understand the situation, and leave it at that.

Good luck! Let us know what happens.
