I wouldn't tell them anything. Especially because its a family member and not a "professional". I would only let Michael know that his services are not required.

There is no way that they could tell a guest that has paid to be at the hotel that they can't take pics of the wedding that they are attending.

If I could afford to pay for a photographer to stay at the hotel, then I wouldn't be as concerned. But I think if they're just coming to the hotel for the day to take pics, is where there could be more of an issue.smile35.gif

I agree that we all should write a letter to the HO expressing our extreme frustration and disappointment in this policy. This may not help the '08 brides but may make a difference to the '09 brides and beyond.

**JUSTUSTWO** May I ask which photographer you are using?
I know Michael's work is great, but like you said, we all have a different vision. Also, I wanted to make sure that for the $ I'm spending, I want my pictures to be exactly what I want. That being said, after going back & forth as to what I should do, thats when I contacted my photographer. I will PM you her info.

I thought that bringing in a photographer wouldn't be affordable, but I found that as long as you're honest about what you can afford, you'll definitely be able to find someone who is willing to work with you & make it happen!

I'm not using Michael and I'm not paying a fee (I've decided), so we will see how things go. My favorit cousin is a photographer, and she is amazing. She is going to be taking my pictures.

I'm bringing in a photographer. Michael's style just isn't what I was going for. But I COMPLETELY think his more recent work is MUCH better than what he had emailed me as samples over a year ago.
Davina & Heidi, I think that anything that we do now will benefit us & future brides. I think the more names we have on 1 letter, the better. At least they will see that this is an issue & policy that needs to be addressed & revised. So, how shall we do this? I sent 2 emails to the Wedding Sales Coordinator, who used to be Carolina. I received an auto response from Valeria Munguía, Wedding Sales Coordinator of Jamaica just saying that I should receive a reply within 24 hours, which ofcourse, I haven't. I also sent an email to Chandlyn for clarification on the policy but have yet to hear from her either. I don't know where else to turn at this point.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how we should organize this? Should I start a new thread to assess everyone's interest in doing a group letter, basically a petition?

theres really no easy way around it on this decision.. you have to really break down your budget and figure out what is most important. sticking to your budget or scrimping on parts of the budget in order to get a photographer there that you will be happy with OR to stick to the budget and get the photos from the resrort (which arent going to be bad just not as many) maybe you can find some photographers in the area who arent at the resort you can hire for an in between thing.. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
