I've been working with Baja Weddings to help coordinate my wedding and although the services have been great - the final coordination fee is not.

They want to charge me $3500 for a 40 person wedding at the Sheraton. (This is the only even that they are working on). It was more expensive but the owner brought the price down alittle.

What has your experience been with wedding coordinators?

When I first talked to them a year ago it was no more then $5500 for a 120 person wedding + rehearsal dinner.

We aren't doing the rehearsal dinner - they just helped coordinate the vendors and will do day of services.

I think this is outrageous - your thoughts?

We have 2 weeks until the wedding so this is their final bill..I'm going to ask for a cost breakdown because this is just their coordination fee - we pay the vendors as well..

Do you have a contract? You'd think you would have discussed their coordination fee before this point.. hopefully it works out for you. I do know that other coordinators in the area were much more expensive for day of than Maye but I'm sure your wedding is going to be gorgeous!

No - no contract at all..I had an estimate from one of the Baja Wedding Coordinators that has since left. Her original estimate was based on 100 - 120 people. Our guest list since then has gone down considerably (more then half) but the fee didn't go down that much.

... I't a tough spot to be in. First things...

Baja weddings does a fantastic job!

Coordinators in Cabo are getting expensive because of all the brides coming there; Cabo is a HOT SPOT for weddings!! Can you say "supply and demand"??

The days of a "cheap" Mexican wedding are coming to an end!

That sucks! My guess is their rate isn't based on per person.. it's per event. Sounds like your only recourse is to negotiate it down as much as possible and for sure get an itemized list..

A newbie just wrote recently about a Karla at Baja.

Here's another about how expensive they are but that they loved working with them:

Thanks Cheesediva. I did quote those two rates I saw in the thread:

                30 people = $1500 and
                75 people = $3800

Just doesn't compute to my why 40 people = $3500 but I will wait to hear what the owner says.

FWIW - my WC has been great - not complaining about the service -think they have been very thorough - just questioning what appears to me a pricing discrepancy.

That's good news. Sounds like there's room to negotiate. I can't wait to hear how the wedding goes.. It's coming up fast!! congrats!

Minx1969, I got a quote from Baja Weddings for a coordination fee of $2,500 for about 40 people.

I'd say it all depends on what kind of service you're getting. If you are getting personalized service with unlimited access to your wc and feel like they are doing a fab job I think it'll be worth it. I know my WC is a little more expensive than some but I feel like it's worth it just for peace of mind.
