OOT Bags, anyone ever used these

Recommended Posts

I did some shipping and cost calculations based on an estimated 80 bags (45 lbs) for my order:

to my address 90291 (home) or 90401 (work more likely) shipping was $21.60

to NY zipcode (took the lower east side zipcode of one of my guests) shipping was $42.60

That is a difference of $21.00

If I bought them and had them sent to me, I'd have to pay tax at 8.25% = $26.35, so shipping to NY saves me $5.35

If we got the $3.80 price, my bag order would drop in price by $15.20

So $5.35 + $15.20 = $20.53 in savings, but shipping back to me has to = $20.53 to break even with how much I would have paid by ordering alone with no discount.

I looked up on FedEx what it would cost to ship 45 lbs (which is what Dharma says it is) by ground shipping (the cheapest way) and it was $44.34. So that is an extra $23.81 . If the rest of the girls split it, it would ruin their savings, no? And I don't want to pay more than ordering alone, sorry to be selfish. UPS and the post office were more expensive.

Another consideration is the additional time I'd have to wait...I would like to get them by mid-March latest because my screenprinting turnaround time is 3 weeks.

So - I guess it is up to the rest of you to calculate if this is worthwhile? It doesn't seem like I'll get to save anything in this, but I would like to help out if it helps, but I'm not so sure. it would be nice to save too, considering how many I'm ordering...

I wish they'd just give us a freaking bulk order savings code!

I would say that we need to get a final, exact count from everyone interested, so that we know the total amount of bags we'd need.

Then, if someone else would like to call Dharma & speak to David about additional discounts besides the $3.85 they gave us, or a BDW code that people could use individually, we could see what happens & take it from there. But I definitely think we need a final, total count so that we can make sure we get the best discount possible.

If the discount code doesn't work, then I think we can go with ordering & shipping to the area that has the least expensive shipping expense & splitting it. Does that sound feasiblehuh.gif

Either way, I'd say we should figure this out by Monday. I need to get on the ball & get these bags outta the way. I feel like I'm so behind & such a slacker.LOL

So I guess it might depend what you are putting in them.
I will go take a picture.
For as many as I needed to take with me, I decided the canvas ones would pack better.

I do like it, but I needed 25 and I also wanted to have a logo on them.

These ones I ended up using with most of the stuff I had in them.
It's missing the immodium packets, chapstick and the Totis which are similar to chips with lime and salt, yum!
Oh, and peanuts (cacahute japones) and obleas (caramel-type candy).

Yup we thought about those too but found that they were too small for some of our needs. Thanks anyway!

Yeah, I thought they were too, but then I saw a video on the bliss website of someone creating an OOT bag using them and I think they may be big enough for my purposes. Here's the video.

I just ordered mine today (35 of them) so I'll let you know how they turn out! cheer2.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
