3 lbs is good for just about 3 weeks. You should be losing about .5 - 1 lb a week on average.... thats about 4 lbs a month. So next month you will be down 8 lbs by the end of the month if you lose a lb this week. That is actually good because if you lost too much the chances of you gaining it back even faster....

Michelle, You might want to check out sparkpeople.com I have had great success with the online food diary. It keeps track of your calories, fat, protein, etc. I thought I was doing a good job of self monitoring, but really wasn't. There is also a water intake measurement. There is a workout calculator that totals how many calories were burned during your workout. I need to use that page more than I do!

I find that if I have to write everything down, I don't eat what I know I shouldn't. This was a really bad weekend! Saturday I ate out all 3 meals! I'm scared to enter it because I know it was a million calorie day! LOL

In 3 weeks I've lost almost 10 pounds, really just by monitoring my foods. Lots of fresh vegetables and low-carb items. I think it was Alyssa that mentioned you need at least 1200 calories to lose weight. I'm in a 1200-1500 range.

Wow congrats on your 10 lbs!!!

I am doing everything you are doing...I have signed up for sparkpeople but still trying to figure my way through it. I am eating 1200-1400 calories a day, mostly 1200 and I am not eating very many carbs and if so it's in the daytime. I know everyone's body is different...but for the most part on a regular basis when I am not dieting, I eat about the same things as I am eating now...since I have dieted all my life, I always make a conscious effort at least during the week to eat about 1200 calories a day. Whereas some people like my co-worker who was skinny to begin with, lost 20 lbs toward the later part of last year. But she used to eat fast food like 3 meals a day everyday and 2 sodas a day, junk food snacks...I mean she ate like crap and I know from experience that when you eat so bad and then change to eating so good you loose alot faster in the beginning...

So who knows...I will figure it out and I won't give up...

I know what you mean!

I could tell a difference in what I FELT like when I cut out sodas and fast food a few years ago. Not as lethargic as I was then. ANd you are right -- changing to good eating habits helps shed the pounds faster.

I'm reading The Abs Diet for Women and the 12 POwerfoods they suggest you use a lot really aren't bad (except that I don't like peanut butter, lol). So, I am going to give it a shot eating more of the types of things they suggest ... b/c I eat pasta or starches as often as I can and I know that's a big no-no.

Well, the book I bought is a pretty big paperback.

I will bring it in to work and scan in a few pages with the Powerfoods, etc.

Michelle;

Keep up the "great" work you are doing. I've been struggling myself and I have written positive notes and stuck them up through out the house. I even have some in my office at work. Things like you can do it! It really helps. Especially the notes I have up near the fridge. Like "you know what's going to happen if you eat that"! Whatever diet you do, consistency is the key. The weight and inches will come off. Don't get discouraged. I think I can safely write that we are all in this together and if you do get down, send a thread out.

Anywho keep your head up. Your going to look great on your WD, no matter what you loose.cheer2.gif

That sounds about right! So far, I love the book!

3 lbs is a great start. You're on track to losing more. Weight loss has been challenging for me. I thought I was eating right but I found out I was eating better for me but it could still use some major changes.

I'm a carb addict and I munch a lot at work so I've been advised to drink V-8 (2 servings of veggies in 1 can) i'm not a big fan but i'll do what i have to, I have to cut out cheese unless its cottage cheese.

I was snacking on almonds thinking it was healthy its a good fat but its still fat. Chips is my downfall so I'm trying to replace it

with carrot sticks and apple slices.

I'm eating cereal with skim milk for breakfast.

I'm trying not to weight myself on the scale i'm hoping my pants will become loose. I've noticed a little improvement on circuit training over cardio. Are you lifting weights? If you build muscle the scale won't show that but it'll burn calories when you're not even exercising.

You're on the right track, it just takes time. Its great that you're able to focus and go to the gym regularly! Its so hard for me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
