  1. @@HannahShort Hi Hannah, We worked with a travel agent. I wouldn't recommend mine since I felt she wasn't organized at all. It was more work for us. She worked w/ funjet. I would contact them directly. They can work out a group package for you. We reserved 15 rooms and received a discount for every 5th room we received a free room. A travel agent makes it easier for you and your guest to book and work out an easy payment plan for you and your guest. They also help with roundtrip transportation. TA's are supposed to get you the lowest rates possible especially if you have a block of rooms reserved.

  2. @@HannahShort I personally like to cut the middleman, so I reached out to each vendor individually. I checked out their FB page sent messages and emails. I preferred to work with someone who's more responsive and attentive. Elena from Love Memories was great to work with. Took the time to skype with us and even give us suggestions. I didn't get the same c/s feel from Gama.

  3. @@HannahShort  Hi Hannah.

We arrived 2 days before the wedding. We wanted to make sure we had enough time to go over every detail. We also requested a rehearsal the day before to do a walk through w/ entire wedding party, parents, flower girl, ring bearer. It didn't seem like they were going to have one for us. So make sure you schedule one and confirm the day you meet with them. I had them give us a tour of where the ceremony (gazebo) and cocktail/reception would be (beach area by the gazebo).

We had a casual welcome gathering at Tres Cervezas the night before the wedding and handed out our welcome bags then. I took Amber's advise and had two of my girls hold a few tables for us an hour before everyone arrived. The restaurant manager was not happy about us holding tables. I'll also add, the restaurant was pretty empty. They ended up calling the wedding dept and my WC spoke to my MOH. Big mistake! Since my MOH was already frustrated w/ their lack of cooperation and communication she dismissed her. We weren't going to pay extra for a semi private dinner and separate menu when we're at an all inclusive resort. Of course this also depends on the size of your party. We had 32 guest. I'm sure for bigger parties you'll need the accomodations.

We used love memories for decor and flowers. Since our package. Love and Opulent came w/ a bridal flower bouquet we were quoted an extra charge for the upgrade. I don't have my pictures back from my photographer but I'll try to attach a few from guests. I would also recommend having your guest download Wedpics. Many of our guest uploaded pics to our site.

I'll post pictures from home since I'm at work and they blocked the feature.

  4. @@MichelleandAdam Hi I recently had my wedding a Hyatt ziva on September 23rd and had Angela as my WC but also had to deal with Christina Parker. Dealing with the wedding group was a nightmare they are very unorganized, non responsive and never do as they say. They over promise and never deliver. I will say that my wedding day was perfect! It was perfect because of all the emotions and love that day and maked the little things not important. My bouquet was not as I requested, my guest never had our cake. Actually we only had two bites and never saw it again. Our decor was a little off and our "take a shot take your seat" table was confusing and nonalcoholic shots were mixed with alcohol and not clearly explained. But none of that mattered that day bc seeing my husband and surrounded by our family and friends made it perfect. I will also recommend going prepared and arrive a few days earlier to review every last detail. Have it all in writing AND follow up and reconfirm bc they never get it right. They even ruined our intimate dinner on the pier. Set up in the wrong location and brought out the wrong menu even though we paid for the upgrade. The food was cold and moet hot. The staff at the hotel is amazing and they did try to make things right for us and to clean up the wedding Depts mess. I would have one of your guests non bridal party go with you to the first meeting to ensure your requests are met. I regret not having a wedding planner to deal with them and also getting ready in the room insread of the bridal room in the spa. Felt cramped and dark.

  5. @@Guz16 Hi! Congratulations! I want to see photos!!  Love your hair! They did a great job. That's a good idea about the trial hair/makeup. How much did they charge for that or was that included?? Also, what happens when it rains? Did you have to choose different decor? Were they able to use the same and just made it work? Also, who did you use for DJ?  Sorry for all the questions! Getting nervous and anxious as the days get closer.

  6. @@kellymenning Hi Kelly I'm hoping to rent as much as I can from Katy. Me and FH are having a hard time w/ the decorating vendor provided by the hotel. It feels like such a rip off! I guess we didn't realize how much all this would cost! Any help and tips would be great! I thought having a destination wedding would mean simple and beautiful but that cost more than  $3000! urgh

  7. @@Gerri430 Hi Gerri I have heard it's easier working w/ TA and have heard great stories but unfortunately I haven't had the best of luck. TA's are supposed to take that task off your hands and work directly w/ your guest. Look for the best possible prices and suggest and find best options. It's been a little challenging for us but I wish you good luck finding the perfect match!

  8. @@KellyFitzgerald Hi Kelly I feel your pain! I had the same issues the only difference I see is when you have the room/group rates you get the roundtrip transportation when working w/ a TA. They also guarantee the discounts at that time. So we got the 50 % off and 5th night free. Maybe it was my TA but it's been a hassle and the turn around time for room changes has been a nightmare!! You would think since you're paying so much for a wedding there, they would be more accommodating. NOPE! I have seen other hotels give more "perks" when booking a wedding. I'm guessing bc the hotel is under new management the perks are not as generous as other hotels.
