  1. @@snswedding2016 Thanks so much, Steph :)

Day of Presents for Parents and Nonna

Omg I'm in love with these hankies. We ordered from etsy vendor LarkspurAndLinen and I cannot wait to receive them!

We were able to customize the frame, hankie edge, colours and names (obviously!). The images I've attached are the samples but you get the idea. I picked up one for Mike as well that says "it was always you".

  2. @@acw271011 Sorry Ann - I saw this post and forgot to pop back and reply. I'm sorry I had to bail last minute. Unforunately in my line of work it's a lot of flying by the seat of your pants. I actually didn't end up getting home until 9:30 Friday night. I would love to see you all before we go :)

@@krystalball When are you back? We can't wait to hear about your trip and read about your wedding :)

  3. @@deecol Thanks Dee! My girls went above and beyond :)

@@snswedding2016 Thanks Steph! I couldn't be happier with the whole shower.

@ Thanks Perian! I can't wait to see my belt sewn on. That should be completed Saturday when I go for my third fitting. For those following my seamstress fiasco, things were 1000x better fitting number two. I had a different seamstress that spoke English and other than her trying to convince me to put massive cups in my dress, she seemed to see and "get" my vision. I'm actually excited for my next fitting.

You're right - I wanted to do something other than maracas because my SIL had done them. In the end we went with them because 1. they're adorable 2. they'll add colour to the tables and 3. at the end of the day it doesn't really matter if my SIL had them - there isn't a ton of overlap on our guest list. Thanks for sending me your tag vendor. I was seconds away from ordering from SmilingTag when I double checked the shipping policy. For the first time in planning I'm worried something may not make it in time. Oh my gosh. Times been cut short! I found a few local vendors though - none with designs as cute, but I'll probably go with them so I can be sure I get the tags in time.

    Some Updates

We received our song lyric print. The vendor was so sweet. She asked why I was doing ordering black font seen as how everything else I bought from her was gold. When I said so I could use it again side by side our guestbook map in our house, she offered to do the print in black and gold for no extra charge. She said it was the least she could do seen as how we live in Canada and I'm paying her in USD lol So kind!

The bow ties arrived yesterday. The pink isn't the same as the girls dresses but it's light enough that I think it will look great. It's actually an exact match with the girls flowers so I think the contrast is perfect.

Here is my artsy attempt at photography - Mike's wrinkled blue pants, the bow tie, gold mercury vase & a bouquet.

I need to get back into wedding mode. I figure once I get my shower cards completed (deadline is the weekend) then I'll be able to cross even more off our list.

I had preordered flowers for my girls and Mike came to deliver them at the end of the shower (& to help with the gifts and say his thank yous). He surprised me with some flowers too! :)

After the shower all my bridesmaids tried their dresses on. They look great. Next up - shoes for the ladies.

    We're getting so close!

  5. Ladies - I have a bit of a scheduling conflict I'm trying to work through. As of right now I need to be in Collingwood for the day tomorrow which would make it almost impossible to get downtown. Trying to reschedule. Should have an update but the end of the day :(

@@acw271011 Thank you! And how could you not order from Amols? The prices are great! I need to start working on the tag for the maracas now. Probably something simple like "Shake for a kiss" and then "M & A June 7th, 2016".

@@calgarybride2015 You made me look twice at my counter lol Two months tomorrow :) I went back to your thread before ordering and looked at your pictures for inspiration! And now that they're here and in my hands I love them even more than I thought I would.

My MOH is actually adorable. My girls are keeping all the details of my shower and bachelorette so quiet! I love how sneaky they're trying to be lol I called my MOH yesterday and asked for some details like time lol and she said I've ruined her plan - she was writing me a poem with the details haha She sent it tonight...

    The time has come,

    it's down to the hour.

    You're getting married,

    we're having a shower!

    I know you feel awkward,

But get over it, give up!

    We're gonna eat finger food

    until we throw up!

    It's happening this Sunday

    on X Drive,

Around 11:30 is when you should arrive.

Me, your mom, and the maids

    Have planned it all out.

    Celebrating this milestone

    Is what it's about!

    You're a bride, you're blushing,

    You're smitten and fit.

    Plus you're probs gonna get

    some really cool shit!

So put on your party dress,

    Rouge up those lips,

Get ready to pop, fizz, clink as we sip

    A toast to the bride,

Cuz the date is all set

    As you prepare to become

    Mr. Romeo's Juliet!

  7. @@tpenner I'm sorry you're going through this. It's a story ive read time and time again on this forum. Weddings, and in particular DWs, often show a persons true colours. Some people can't find it in their heart to be happy for someone else and it's really, really sad. I think just about anyone can accept a persons reason for not doing something when a reasonable explanation is made. I don't understand why some people can't find it in themselves to be honest - especially if they are near and dear to your heart. I get that financial strain can be difficult to talk about, but the others reasons for not doing something shouldn't be.

Just know that there are many of us on this forum that have gone through something similar. It's tough to stomach but I can say, in my situation, I got over it quickly. You see who your true friends are! You see who will step up and who will step aside. At the end of the day all that matters is you and your husband.

I hope the next ten days aren't too stressful for you. And know that people not paying their deposit isn't a hard and fast 'no'. People will book after your deposit due date. People are still getting rates for our wedding and the deposit deadline has passed, full payment deadline has passed and we are two months out. I stressed about deposit deadline and if I could turn back time knowing what I do now, I wouldn't have stressed at all. For some people it's hard to commit that far out given work schedules, vacation time, children, etc. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't stress; you'll regret it later.

    :)

    Dress / Belt Update

I was at a conference today in Woodbridge that happened to be seconds from my dress shop. Since I hadn't heard back I decided to pop in. To my surprise all my alterations were complete. They apologized for their poor communication and promised everything would work out. Blah blah blah. There are a million bridal stores in that plaza so I went to all of them looking for a belt. I walked into Tres Chic Couture and the owner and dress designer was there. He was so sweet! He makes all his own dresses and brought me out samples of belts. I decided to purchase a piece that will be sewn into my dress. I totally overpaid BUT at least it wasn't $400 like the belt I originally wanted. Because the store was so close to my dress shop, I ran over and got my dress and tried them both on together. I love the look!

Here is a picture of the $400 belt and a shot of my new belt. I have an alterations appointment on Saturday and they will sew my belt on to the dress and continue with the additional alterations I need.

I bought all my wedding signage on Etsy from Nancy at CharmingEndeavours. She's super kind and always prompt. She doesn't show wedding lyric prints on her site but she did have custom postings so I just asked. I asked at the beginning of March and she was swamped and not doing custom work. We decided I'd touch base in April seen as how I was in no hurry and she would do it then. Her prices have gone up but since she told me a lower price before she is honouring it. She told me today she's having trouble keeping up and won't be doing custom work for a bit. If you like her stuff, it can't hurt to ask!

Mine has passed every inspection too! I've been so diligent with taking it in and no one even mentioned the issue. Makes you wonder what they're even looking at?! Glad your ring came back fixed at least - too bad about the soldering but at least you have your rings to wear :) Love that you got an anniversary band. I'm keeping a list of reasons why I want (deserve lol) new bands ;)

  10. A Few Updates

    - I ordered Mike and the groomsmens bow ties today from etsy - as of right now everyone's wearing blush. They were super cheap so I'm hoping the old "you get what you pay for" isn't true. If they work, I may carry one with me and try and find Mike one that matches but sets him apart from the group.

    post-282006-0-94669900-1459824288_thumb.jpg

    - I ordered a print with our wedding song lyrics on it from etsy today. I've seen this in a lot of other brides threads and had to have it. It's going to be the same font as the rest of our signage but in a grey or black so I can hang it with our guestbook map when we get home :)

I'm not sure I posted our wedding song but we are using A Thousand Years - Christina Perri and Steve Kazee version. No, we aren't twilight fans (well I sort of am), we just love this version.

    These lyrics in print...

And all along I believed I would find you

Time has brought your heart to me

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more...

    - My engagement ring split today. It's been resized three times and I guess the last time they didn't "seal" it properly. The band had a hairline split in it. I took it right to the jeweller and I could tell they were embarrassed. Thankfully they said this wasn't my fault and would fix it. I'm engagement ringless until Friday. Fingers crossed it comes in on time because my shower is on Sunday and I'd like to have my ring.

    - No dress update. I still haven't heard from the shop. No call Tuesday, Wenesday or Friday. All days in which they promised to call back. I'll call tomorrow and if they don't have an appointment booked for me I'll pick up my dress after work and take it somewhere local. Enoughs enough!

    - My onsite wedding coordinator called today. She's super nice but she isn't my old wedding coordinator. I miss her lol I didn't have much to ask but I appreciated the introduction call and she was able to take care of the pricing errors they made on my wedding builder.

  11. @@acw271011 Please don't be sorry. I hope you are okay and that things are looking up. We've missed you but take care of yourself if you need to. We will be here :) Hope to see you Friday!

Thanks for the congrats & all your other sweet comments! Being a Mrs. feels the exact same lol Probably because we've really downplayed it. I'm just so excited to get to Mexico. In my heart, those are the real 'I do's'. And you're right - it's over in a blink of an eye. I love how our legal came together but it did come and go very quickly.

A year ago Mike would have went with a grey or tan; something more neutral. He now works for a high(er) end women's retailer (sounds odd lol) and they're obviously all about fashion. I think this influenced his decision and I couldn't be happier. He looks amazing in his suit :) and I LOVE the blue.

Communication with AF isn't great but I imagine it could be a lot worse. My fingers are crossed that their move to an onsite coordinator will make planning the last minute details much easier. I'll be sure to write an update once my WD is in touch.

Thank you for filling the complaint; I know others did too. I didn't actually see her big rant and that's probably for the better. I wasn't phased by her experience. It is what you make of it. That's been my attitude throughout the process and I don't intend on changing it based on her comments. There are so many brides that had beautiful weddings at AF and I can only hope ours will be the same.

Thanks for popping in and don't worry about catching up on everything :)

  12. @@vancouverpetunia Dress update: This shouldn't be surprising based on how my appointment went - I was supposed to get a call to schedule my next appointment on Tuesday or Wednesday; no one called. I called on Friday and the lady that picked up the phone was the same lady that said she was going to call earlier in the week. She said she never said that lol I said okay, well when can I come in? She said she would call me later that night and schedule the appointment. It's a day later and she hasnt called. I'll try again on Monday. Again, I'm not mad, it's still comical...but it won't be for much longer. Hopefully by the time you get back from your wedding I will have had my second appointment :)
