  1. We would love to hear where your guy is getting his wedding day duds. We're looking for a light tan/beige/sand color ensemble that consists of pants and a matching vest. He prefers something light as Mexico will be muy caliente in July!
  2. Hahaha @@LisaAnthonyPoppy! But it is crazy! Thank you so much for your advice everyone! I don't feel comfortable asking any of our guests that are going to MC the evening but it is a really nice idea Kim I contacted the DJ on the resort's list this evening and will hopefully get a feel for them and what they're about. We will have roughly $800 credit that we could use towards their recommended DJ which almost covers the cost. Thanks again! I contacted DJ Discomovil and they are already booked for our wedding date!
  3. Our venue has a list of preferred vendors that they allow on the property without charging an additional fee and we have a credit towards their DJ with our wedding package. Unfortunately they only have one DJ on their list... If we choose to have a DJ that isn't on their list, we have to pay the resort a $350 outside vendor fee plus the cost of the DJs services. We are having a small wedding with 20 people and have been going back and forth about just renting a sound system and using playlists. I really would like someone to be there to MC the reception however, I'm not sure it's worth the money, especially with such a small group. I'm really torn because I understand the importance of having a DJ to keep things moving and guests entertained!
  4. Encore DJ Services is the only preferred vendor for DJ services recommended by the Secrets Maroma wedding coordinator. I am hoping someone has a review or experience with them. Thanks!
  5. We're doing custom leather luggage tags that I found on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/25-WHITE-Genuine-leather-wedding-escort-luggage-tags-2-00-each-/151419037361?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23414726b1
  6. I'm going to be using cake forks instead of a cake knife & server. These seem smaller and easier to travel with. https://www.etsy.com/listing/203413415/mr-and-mrs-personalized-wedding-forks?ref=favs_view_10
  7. Thank you!!! I agree... I used to work in the wedding industry and I can't imagine taking weeks to respond to someone if I wanted their business. I am super close to saying nixing the rental decor and saving money. After all, we're getting married on a beautiful beach at an amazing resort and think it will be perfect with just having a few flower arrangements and candles from a more responsive vendor. Thanks again Kim!
  8. I posted a topic earlier in January but I am just curious to hear how long it has taken for OUTSIDE vendors such as Event Planning/Decor Rental companies and Florists to respond to an email. ( http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/78580-secrets-maromaplanner-1-events/ ) First let me say that I understand that things aren't the same here as they are in Mexico but I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with similar situations. I have about 5 months and plenty of time until my wedding, but am trying to plan everything out as we go to keep our budget in check. I was referred to Gabi at Planner 1 Events/Canteiro Flowers and it is taking them quite some time to respond. Since they are an outside company and do not work for the resort where I am getting married, it is concerning to me that it takes multiple weeks to hear back regarding simple questions. Considering what I've seen for their pricing, I would hope their customer service would be a little more reasonable. Does anyone has any experience working with Planner 1 Events/Canteiro Flowers? I have also received quotes back from Marvin at Maya Florals (who has rave reviews) and Laura from Premium Flores. Both seem wonderful to work with and are very timely in returning my emails. Thank you in advance for your suggestions and help!
  9. Beautiful wedding! Congratulations and thank you for sharing your FB link so we could all see your day I LOVE your map card box... Are you looking to part ways with it or share how you made it?
  10. I'm getting married at Secrets Maroma Beach (which is adults only) in the Riviera Maya , Mexico BUT have been to the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo resort twice over the past two years. We originally wanted to hold our wedding there but they were all booked up for our time frame. The Iberostar resorts in the Rivera Maya are amazing and family friendly! The cool thing about the properties is that there are 5 hotels in one large area and you can visit, swim, and dine at almost all of them! and they're beautiful!!!! There is a lazy river, amazing pools-including a wave pool, gorgeous beach, and even a fun water area for the kids. There is also the Iberostar Paraiso Grand hotel which is an adults only property if you want to escape for a few days after your wedding to be "alone." I definitely recommend checking the Iberostar out if you're looking for a family friendly resort! Good luck! http://www.iberostar.com/en/hotels/riviera-maya/iberostar-paraiso-lindo
  11. I ordered Ugg "Lucy" in nude and they just arrived... they are PERFECT and so comfortable! I highly recommend this shoe for anyone looking to add height for a beach wedding. Unfortunately I have to send the pair I ordered back because they run extremely big. I'm totally bummed out because my size is now sold out so the search for the beach wedding wedge continues!
  12. Thank you ladies! @@tygrrlily and @@calgarybride2015 it's so nice to hear about your experiences!
  13. I'm curious to hear when other couples are arriving to their wedding locations prior to a symbolic (non-legal) ceremony. We are having a Saturday wedding and have been planning on arriving Wednesday. I have been under the impression that we'd meet with the WC on Thursday morning. Most of our guests are arriving on Thursday and now I'm contemplating if we should arrive on Tuesday for an extra day of planning time, scoping out the resort, and possibly meeting with the WC a day or two earlier. I'd love to hear your plans. Thanks!
  14. I'm 5'0 tall and really need some height with my dress. I'd love to find some wedge sandals (4inches or higher) for our beach ceremony. I am looking for an espadrille style wedge sandal and love Ugg Luciannas but can't find them in white/ivory anywhere. Has anyone else found anything for a ceremony on the beach? I'd prefer to stay away from platform flip flops if I can. I appreciate your suggestions!
  15. I'm thinking of having something like this personalized with our names and wedding date. https://www.etsy.com/listing/122642521/personalized-mexico-love-map-art?ref=shop_home_active_24
  16. @@FutureMrsNash I'm so happy to hear from someone else getting married there! Are you working with Cecilia as well? I'm waiting to hear back on Gabi about pricing. What are you using Planner 1 for? Looking forward to hearing about your day!
  17. Hello, We are excitedly counting down the days until our July 18, 2015 wedding at Secrets Maroma Beach Rivera Cancun! I posted in the Secrets Maroma thread but there doesn't seem to be too much activity there. I was referred to Gabi at Planner 1 Events by the Wedding Cordinator at Secrets Maroma. It took Gabi a few weeks to respond to my initial email and it has now been 2 weeks since I sent her my questionnaires and I haven't heard back. I understand that Wedding Coordinators at resorts are very busy and can only imagine the same for planning companies. But in my opinion, two weeks seems like a little long for a outside planning company to respond. Does anyone have an experience with either Secrets Maroma or Planner 1 Events that they can share? I'm also interested to know if 2+ weeks is the norm for vendors outside of resorts to respond. Thanks!
  18. I have had great luck with Anne Cole suits. I'm a full DD and the halter style tops are really comfortable and supportive. I also shop early for swimwear at Marshalls and TJ Maxx and find super deals.
  19. I'm planning a wedding for July 2015 at Secrets Maroma. I'm super excited but would love to know more details as well!
  20. Hi! We've just started planning our wedding for mid-July, 2015 at Secrets Maroma Beach. We will be celebrating with 20 family and friends and are having our ceremony on the beach and reception on the gazebo terrace. We're super excited and can't wait!!! Cecilia seems wonderful so far and has been very prompt at responding to my emails which is very reassuring. I do have a couple of questions for other brides. Did anyone travel with decorations, welcome bags for guests, etc. and if so, how did you travel with them? We'll be staying at the resort for almost 2 weeks and I was wondering if I should just pack a separate suitcase with wedding "supplies" or ship them depending on costs. I'd also love some tips on traveling with a gown... We're flying Jetblue and they do not have any hanging storage. I'm also a bit paranoid that airport security may have to see inside my dress bag and I really don't want my fiance to see it! Who did you use for flowers and roughly how much did you spend on various arrangements? Did anyone use Planner 1 Events for lighting or decor? If so, what are your thoughts? We have opted for the Ultimate package which comes with the sound system for the ceremony. I'd love to know your thoughts on this. We are considering having a live musician but the sound system would definitely keep costs down. Was there a technician who was able to play/change the songs during your ceremony or did a guest have to do it? We have a friend doing photography for us so we will be substituting the photography and video services for music. Who did you have for a DJ and what did you think? Is it worth it to have a DJ or should we just rent the sound system and use our own playlist? We're also considering doing a welcome event, maybe the bonfire on the beach but I'm not 100% sure yet as we're trying to keep our budget in check. What other events did you host for your guests? Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help!
