  1. I volunteered to plan the bridal shower, and regretted it the minute the words were out of my mouth. My family always accuses me of being tacky and obnoxious in my choices of birthday and announcement cards. I like cards that are a little sexy, funny, edgy, and usually let my tastes interfere with what other people like. I was about to make another big mistake. I picked some very funny shower cards, at least I thought they were funny, until I showed them to the bride's sister. Her face went white. She stammered about how embarrassed her sister would be by those cards, and suddenly my face was bright red in embarrassment. I did it again. We still had a couple weeks before the invitations had to be in the mail, so I asked her to sit down with me to find some different cards, I jokingly said something about tickling her sister pink instead of making her face red. She took my comment as a suggestion and we ended up on this page, http://www.tickledpinkinvitations.com/bridal-shower-invitations . Instantly, both of us spotted the same card on the first line of bridal shower invitations that we liked. It was just sexy enough to make me really happy, and just conservative enough to not embarrass her to death. Her sister commented she would just turn bright pink about the picture of a bride in a mini-skirt wedding gown, instead of the beet red from cards I had selected before. Yes, they were that naughty. The rest of the shower planning went fine. I was tempted to hire that male dancer, but thought that might be a little too much, but you cannot blame a girl for trying. Maybe we can do that for the bachellorette party.
  2. Ah, I wish I could grab up some of those, but my man and I have a 30-day waiting rule. If, after 30 days, you feel like you really need it, then we can go ahead and buy it. But you'd be amazed how many of the things that we buy on impulse we don't really need at all... Good luck selling it off!
  3. I just wanted to say that your story is so sweet, Krystal! We can't always get what we want - or what others want - but oftentimes we get what we need. My proposal went just like I wanted it to go, but that was mostly because I just wanted him to propose to me. Screw expectations! Compromise is an art, one that helps a great deal in married life.
  4. True Blood is great, sometime I feel silly for anticipating each new episode like a drooling doggy, but on the other hand - we can all have our guilty little pleasures. Everyday life can get so dull sometimes, that it's nice to escape into the world of True Blood...
  5. Ladies, hold firm - this isn't the end of the world! Just don't let anybody wrench YOUR big day away from you. It will go terrible if your heart's not in it, or if you're actively hating it. Whether it's parents or someone else who is trying to take control of your wedding and negatively affect it, you can't. Let them. Do it. Be firm, or even harsh, but you'll be happy you dealt with it sooner rather than later. Good luck!
