Hi! I'm getting married sometime in November 2014. We haven't sent in our forms or deposit yet - I'm a bit of a second-guesser and it still seems so far away! I'm really enjoying reading all the posts. There's lots ot think about! Am I going crazy or did NOW Jade recently change the menu options?

We're having a simple civil ceremony on a Friday afternoon in our hometown. The "big" symbolic wedding will happen in Mexico six months later. Our families are mostly either on the far west coast or the far east coast. We expect most guests will want to make the trip to Mexico. A few of our VIF (very important family!) members will only be able to come to the local wedding so we're having a lunch reception following the ceremony. We don't want anyone feel left out that they weren't invited to both celebrations but we also don't want them to think they are expected to come to both. How would you word the STD's?

This poor groom and his cousin might do exactly the same thing if they had a do-over - his bride was getting caught up in the fight, after all - and it was other tourists that were involved in the fight, not Dominicans. As KatyaNova would probably agree (and your wedding photos are gorgeous, by the way!), this kind of thing definitely doesn't happen every day! Still, I'd be extra careful when travelling to any country that doesn't have the same transparency and opennes that North American legal systems do. One of the risks we take in return for a beautiful destination wedding!

Does anyone know if there are any photos of ceremonies anywhere than on the beach? I'm trying to decide between Now Sapphire and Now Jade and the one thing I keep coming back to is the terrace with the pergola at Now Jade.

For us it really is just a family gathering! We've both been married before and all of our siblings have kids that are having weddings so really, I don't think there is the same expectation that we put on a big show. I wonder if we told the resort that it's a vow renewal (which it will be since we're getting married here first) would it be any less? This is more about our families getting together and having a good time than it is about watching us tie the knot, I think.

Thanks for the luggage tag suggestion! I want to use them as well. I saw them in bright pink, green, orange and pink for $1.50 each at Michael's just before I got engaged (and wasn't even thinking about wedding things) but they disappeared never to return. I'm sure ther're still out there somewhere....

Moody, did your STD's arrive? Last night I realized that our AH ceremony is exactly one year away. Deep breath! Okay, so I have 50 weeks to lose enough extra weight to feel good about being the centre of attention in a beautiful arm-baring dress! I'm starting off with a 12-day Wild Rose detox b/c that always helps me to get over the sugar cravings. Here we go!

Hsa anyone seen a STD with two dates? We're getting married and having a small reception at home in May 2014 and having the big ceremony (vow renewal) and reception in Mexico in November 2014. I'd like to give our guests the opportunity to attend either one (even though I know most will join us at the DW). The STD will direct them to our wedding website for more info. Any ideas? Thanks!

I'll be sending out STD's about 16 months in advance and still I'm worried no one will come. Yikes!

My TA suggested I check out this website and I'm glad I did I've hit gold on the first thread I've checked out - help with getting my weight down so I can get into shopping for that perfect dress!
