The table numbers were definitely a DIY adventure, but not that hard. I got the frames at Michael's and spray painted them gold. I also had to get frame stands and paint them. The numbers are unpainted wood from Michael's too. I did a different photo in each frame - but for continuity, I made them all into sepia toned pix. They were pix from the various countries that have meaning to us and a little write up as to why. Hope that helps and thanks again!

Looking to sell the gold tablecloths and runners from our wedding. We were married in Tulum (Mexico) in 2014 and these added a little extra sparkle to our wedding reception! Two (2) tablecloths measuring 72" x 72" - $100 for both (plus shipping) Five (5) runners measuring 12" wide x 108" long - $100 for all five (plus shipping) Note: They are both gold sequin cloth from the same Etsy vendor, but they aren't the exact same color. The runners are a slightly deeper gold. We had them on tables that were side by side and couldn't notice a thing, but I just want to give you all the details. @@misbosox... I actually made our menu cards! I found the card stock at Michaels and then punched out the top/bottom edges with a Martha Stewart punch (also from Michaels). I just used the same fonts as our wedding invites and added the starfish and, voila! They weren't that difficult and were probably the most commented element of decor at our wedding as we also put a personal message for each guest (and used them as seating cards as well). We simply wrote the guest name/message in Excel and did mail merge. Hope that helps!

I also "lurked" during wedding planning, more than I actually posted, so here's my attempt to provide a little Vendor Info to those of you who are also getting married in amazing, beautiful Tulum! Here are some pics from our photographer, so you can see the decor, hair, makeup in action! Canada Transfers - Transportation Since Tulum is approximately 90 minutes from the airport, we wanted to arrange our guests' transport arrangements from the airport to the hotel. This was my husband's wedding project since he's detail oriented and speaks Spanish. Whenever he called, he always talked to the same person (a live human!) who quickly became familiar with our wedding info and guests. All the drivers were prompt, professional and received rave reviews from guests. One driver even waited when a guest couldn't get into their condo right away. We also had to make last minute changes due to missed flights. They handled it all without missing a beat. We can't say enough good things about working with Canada Transfers. In fact, we always rent a car when visiting, but have decided on our next trip, we'll just let these guys take care of us! The Makeup Pros - Hair and Makeup Yes, prices are very similar to DC or NY bridal hair/makeup, but it was SO worth it. I can't even begin to describe how beautiful I felt and how great it was to have these guys help us get ready. It was like chatting with an old friend who happened to do the best makeup EVER. Friends and family were so complimentary - I mean, I guess it's to be expected, I was the bride and all, but they were gushing. I communicated over email with Fernando to set things up, which was pretty simple. He wasn't available for my wedding, so he offered his partner, Julius, for makeup and then Cesar for hair. At first, I was a little nervous since all the reviews I could dig up were for Fernando, so I was wondering where they were hiding this Julius character. Turns out, he also does photo shoots and travels all over the place for MAC so isn't always in town. So yeah, I totally lucked out because he is incredibly talented! I explained that I wanted a shimmery brown/golden eye and whatever else he thought best flattered my features and coloring and he definitely delivered. As for hair, I knew I wanted it up (would definitely recommend that in Tulum due to the wind!) so showed a few pics to Cesar on the day of. He and I had the same favorite look (updo with a braid wrapped around it), so he quickly got to work. I brought extensions to help give my fine, medium length hair enough oomph for the updo. He painstakingly put in all 7 of those bad boys and blended them seamlessly. I still have a big smile on my face thinking of my hair that day - for once in my life, could have been in a Pantene commercial or something. I skipped trial to save on time and cost, and it was totally fine - these guys are pros. They arrived right on time, were so nice, and very talented. Plugin Audiovisual - DJ They actually had a place to review on the vendor reviews page, so here's my review there. To save yourself the click, they were awesome! Blue Lens Caribe - Videographer Long review short: We'd hire Blue Lens Caribe and Nicolas again in a heartbeat and am so, so happy we decided to capture our wedding on video. It's one area we were on the fence about, but now that I know how fast your own wedding goes by, having those moments on video is priceless. We got the package of one videographer, unlimited coverage on your wedding day. Our wedding coordinator recommended BLC and from start to finish, communication was easy and they were very responsive. We met Nicolas (our videographer) onsite a few days before the wedding to go over style, songs etc. During our actual wedding, Nicolas and an assistant videographer (surprise, score!) arrived right on time and worked their tails off all day long. Plus, like everyone else we dealt with when booking BLC, these videographers were really nice guys! And less than a month after our wedding day, we had our five-minute video "trailer" in hand (full length had to be mailed). It was fantastic! They captured the highlights of our wedding so beautifully, so artistically, that we couldn't imagine having hired anyone else. We got a great value for our money, which isn't always the case with all things wedding. Cherry Blossom - Florist Flowers weren't really the most important thing to us, so this was one area we wanted to try to save a little money, while still having things look nice. Sandra from Cherry Blossom has to be one of the most patient people on the planet, since I asked her so many questions and took so long to make a decision that it would have to frustrate most anyone. She was also so nice, very responsive and took pride in her business. Prices were reasonable as well. Since our wedding was on the same weekend as Mother's Day, she gently helped us get our order in on time so we'd have the flowers we wanted. Overall, she and her team did a wonderful job on our flowers, the overall color scheme being coral. They did our centerpieces, boutonnieres, bouquets and wedding arch using a variety of flowers incorporating coral, cream, dark pink and orange. I loved my ombre bouquet, but it was supposed to be coral, blush and cream -- and somehow lavender was swapped in for blush. It looked a little strange next to the orange boutonniere, but If that's the only snafu, I guess I'll take it! Royal Table Cancun Since we acted as our own wedding planner, we needed to make some additional arrangements. Especially important were the ceremony chairs. Some of my original quotes were way out of our budget ($15 per chair, no thank you!) but Royal Table was fair and had a great variety from which to choose. We ended up paying a little more to get ghost chairs, which I had never heard of before but quickly became obsessed with. I had this vision of guests walking down to the ceremony area and being able to see completely through the chairs and focus on the beautiful water. Then the chairs could be moved up for the reception. Once I learned that it would be a big logistical challenge to move 'em, I had to choose between the ceremony and reception for my beautiful ghost chairs - and due to the amount of time we were spending at the reception, it won out. We also ended up renting some basic tablecloths from them, but brought our own runners, napkins, napkin rings and table signs. They delivered and picked up right on time; you do need to realize that that is an extra charge, but nothing outlandish. It's just not quoted in the price of the chair rental itself. Best of luck to all of the future brides out there! A destination wedding was a great choice for us and I hope it is for you as well!

This is a few years later and I plan to write a formal review, but in case anyone stumbles upon this...I just wanted to say that I had Julius do my makeup (May 2014) since Fernando was booked and could not have been happier!!! He is so talented and -- on top of that -- really, really nice! I have never felt more beautiful than when he did my makeup. And Caesar did an awesome job on my hair.

I thought about doing this also, but my wedding coordinator said they would be $6-8 USD each. I didn't check prices while we were there, though! I ended up doing a custom bag through Wedding Chicks, and using a Gilt City voucher ($100 for $200 of product), so my welcome bags came out to $4.

I think we are going to use USA Transfers. We hit a few other quotes but they were much more expensive.

So funny, we're totally on the same page! No, I'm not getting a trial on hair/makeup, so I am hoping for the best. I am bringing *some* decorations, but trying to restrain myself a little bit I'm actually bringing table linens (tablecloths, runners, napkins and napkin holders), some IKEA candle holders (the lacey looking ones - big and small), and considering string lights. I'm also bringing those white starfish to use for escort cards (they're surprisingly light and strong). Having a wedding bag debacle at the moment! In Jan, I ordered a sample on Etsy that I loved, then when I got my final guest count and went to order, the seller is on vacation until "spring". Not sure when in spring, but I'm hoping she comes back soon, LOL! I'm also thinking one per couple, since I'm guessing the ladies will be the ones who actually use them. I was planning on doing most, if not all, of the shopping for the favors and welcome bags when we get down there. I love the maracas idea, too! What kind of guest bags are you thinking of doing? How big will your wedding be?

So the good news is, you have a bit of time Our hotel coordinator also recommended Planner 1 and they were very nice and responsive, just a little out of our budget. I also wrote a similar post in a panic a few weeks ago and got several good recommendations, including a wedding planner - Joyce - who often posts here. Here's who we are using for the following services. Of course, I'll know more after May 10th, but for now, so far so good! - Florist - Cherry Blossom (found them based on recommendations here. Sandra has been really nice and flexible) - Make up - The Make Up Pros (recommended by hotel and brides who were also married there) - Hair - same - DJ Equipment Rental (we have friends who are DJs) - Not sure if they do rentals, but we're using PlugIn AudioVisual. We also got in touch with a few other DJs, based on the recommendations in this forum and all seemed pretty good/responsive. - Videographer - Blue Lens Caribe (recommended by our hotel) - Furniture Rental - Royal Table Cancun (referral from Cherry Blossom - the biggest savings we found for the ceremony) Hope that helps a bit and good luck!

My wedding is May 10, 2014 at Be Tulum and, in all my excitement to find the dress, venue, invitations etc, the ceremony planning kind of got lost in the shuffle! Be Tulum has a wedding coordinator, but she has referred us to vendors that are a bit out of our price range or aren't very responsive, so I thought I would check with you ladies. As my wedding is only 50 days away, I am in a bit of a panic and would love suggestions for the following... - Officiant for symbolic ceremony (preferably with their own microphone) - Simple wedding arch with flowing white fabric - Musical trio for wedding and cocktail hour (I have tried getting in touch with Bole and Camilo Nu without luck) - Seating (chairs, benches -- whatever!) for 60 at the ceremony At least we have already decided on photography, videography, DJ and have our guest list count - otherwise I would be a total wreck, lol. Congrats on your engagement, Reynbow! I was in your shoes exactly a year ago and totally understand all your questions. We ended up doing two scouting trips to Mexico, the first because we were originally encouraged to look at large, all-inclusives from Cancun to Playa, which just wasn't our style. Then we discovered Tulum, and we were sold - but had to come back to really see it in detail (tough sell, right?!). As you noted, none of the resorts are all inclusive, but if you think about the wedding weekend, you'll probably have a welcome dinner, the wedding and a brunch, so folks aren't on their own for meals *that much* anyway. On one of our trips, we were able to meet up with Kristee from Fresa Weddings and she was fabulous. I know she works quite a bit with Akiin. We didn't end up using her, just because our resort has a wedding planner - otherwise, it would have been a no brainer. She took us to Akiin and Cabanas (which would actually be Ziggy Beach Club for the wedding), both great spots. We also checked Ranitas and Be Tulum on our own, since they have in-house planners. We stayed at Ranitas our 2nd trip and the property is great! It was our runner up for sure, but they were going to be doing construction until spring of this year, so we (and they) weren't comfortable chancing that running into our wedding. When we stayed, room prices were very reasonable and rooms were pretty basic, but that was before remodeling. I heard they were going to jump quite a bit post-remodel, so hopefully it's worth it. The property itself is very wide, which is great - more beachfront for you and your guests to enjoy! The palapa/entrance is stunning, and the huge hall they have with stained glass is also beautiful. I've read that wedding food there was great, our regular meals there were fine, but nothing stood out. Staff was fantastic! Our wedding is much smaller than yours, so most of our guests are staying at Be Tulum. It's a wonderful option, but quite pricey. I'd also recommend The Beach for guests. Depending on your/their needs for the creature comforts such as A/C, 24 hr electricity, hot water, there are a number of options. TripAdvisor also has a lot of detailed reviews that should help. Food options are plentiful! We really enjoyed MamaMuu and Ziggy's for casual/reasonable priced eats. Have heard great things about Mateo's for tacos, so we're doing a casual welcome dinner there. Food/setting at Be Tulum is amazing. Good luck on your scouting trip!

Lucky you, going to Tulum in two weeks!!! 250 does sound like a large wedding for Tulum, but maybe a local planner could hopefully suggest some options and help you make it work. The largest wedding I've seen posted on BDW for Tulum was around 125 and they held it at Las Ranitas. The Beach/Cabanas or Akiin Beach Club, like some of the other brides have mentioned, might also be an option for a larger wedding. I think there is going to be a large wedding of around 150 at The Beach/Cabanas the same weekend as mine, from what they told me at Ziggy's while we were there. Hi Hannah, It's nice to finally have a Tulum forum to participate in! I think we're going to use a trio called Bole for the ceremony and cocktail hour and then use a DJ for the reception. When we were there in Sept, we heard Bole play and thought they were awesome - they have a violinist, guitarist and percussionist. I'm sure they can play beautiful, "traditional" music for the cermony and I liked the fact that I had already heard some of their upbeat stuff that would be perfect for the cocktail hour. We're going with PlugIn Audio Visual for the DJ part (recommended by our planner and get good reviews). Have you made any vendor decisions yet or is it still too early? Have you been to Akiin yet? (If not, you'll love it - we also checked it out and thought it was amazing!) Beth
