I didn't get married in Jamaica, planning a renewal of vows there in Ja. Hubby and I are from JA but we met and married here in the States. I also am a TA so I make it my business to keep track of good wedding vendors as referrals for clients. Check out Roan Robinson with Candid Experssions Photography as well as DJ Gemini for the DJ. I know SeaWind beach club will do the catering and bar. Also check out on Facebook for the cake and Pretty Faces makeup artist if you are in need of that. Good luck !! Send me a PM if you need anything else.

you're awesome! i booked dwayne watkins for photography. looking at jans flower for floral and decor. i'll check out your recommendations for cake, dj, and makeup. thanks again for all the help! def good to hear from someone who has personal experience/knowledge of them.

that's great. i just received my quote back from her. prices were cheaper than others but still high. i'll go thru and see what i can cut down on.

Check out Michelle with Wedding Planner Plus, they are based in Ocho Rios but will travel. Also, Sadeki with Chic-Events Jamaica is based in Montego Bay. Ii think that Seawind Beach Club works with Jan's Florals in MoBay and they offer various wedding services not just the flowers.

thanks a bunch. I contacted Jans today and she's going to email me pricing and other services she provides! did you have your wedding in Jamaica? i really like seawind (our ceremony/reception location) but i just have to find people to do everything. i'll contact the others you recommended tomorrow! thanks again!!!

congrats on your wedding. i saw you wrote that you had jans flowers for your vendor. Did you personally pic your bouquet and others flowers that they provided? how was your experience working with them? I'm waiting on a quote from them now. We're staying at secrets and having our wedding at seawind beach club (which is in between secrets and sunset).

  7. @JustNoelle and @Muneera- sent you both a message. @brownskingirl-The deep wave hair once dried went back to the wave pattern. If I wanted to do more of a deeper style with my hair, I used a 1" Curling Wand. They work wonders and does not take that long to curl. Sometimes when I do that, it goes right back to the deep pattern of when I bought the hair which is similar to the hair pics you guys posted. I have the same hair in from my wedding now. I've had it washed and conditioned and it still looks good. I'm here in Atlanta and I bought 3 bundles for $75-$85 from a place called "True Glory". I'm 5'10 so I bought longer lengths (22,24,26) to get it the layered look. Hope this helps!!
    Thanks for the info

    1. Yes, for the most part. The hubby was in charge of music so he put together a spreadsheet. Music is a big deal to him, so when the DJ commented that we made great picks he was all proud of himself. Haha.

    2. At cocktail hour we had the steel drum band. We basically missed this part since we were taking pics, but everyone said they were awesome.

    3. We did spring for the dance floor. As for if it's worth it or not, totally your preference-- if you're going to do first dances and want to wear cute heels or shoes, you might want to spring for it. If you're going barefoot, dancing in the sand is fine I'm sure. But I will say that I really liked the setup with the dance floor-- they had it in the center and then all the tables around it on the beach.

    4. I say just go to the disco after. That's what we did and we gave everyone glow stick bracelets and necklaces.

    5. They use the same chairs for the ceremony and reception. We upgraded to the chivari chairs in silver, and I thought they were pretty on their own so I didn't bring sashes or any chair decorations (other than the fans with programs, which were only out during the ceremony). I bought the napkins online (forget where) but for 40 purple napkins it was pretty affordable, and then I packed them, along with all my other crap, in the plastic storage bins that I taped up really well and checked as luggage. I ended up leaving all 3 bins behind-- didn't want to deal with getting them back to the states, and they were only like $9 each so I didn't feel too guilty.

glad you said that about the chivari chairs, i'm upgrading to that as well. i was wondering if they were pretty enough to skip the chair sashes! i'll prob just decorate our chairs but leave the guests simple! did you get your pictures in yet?

Thank you! I brought everything with me and checked extra luggage. We flew American, so we were allowed 1 checked bag each, 1 carry on, and 1 personal item. We both packed all of our shoes and clothes into our carry ons (a feat, but doable since my clothes were sundresses and bathing suits) and then we each had a garment bag as our "personal item." His had his suit, mine had my dress. They let me hang my dress and were super nice to us on the flights. We checked 2 big plastic bins (taped these up really well) for free and then paid $40 to check the third. All in all, pretty easy. Everything got there and I think out of everything only one bowl was broken, but I had a backup so it was fine. Oh I also had my parents check one huge suitcase of stuff. That got there fine as well.

wow that's alot of stuff american allowed! that's great! i'm looking for tickets now, hopefully i'll fly american as well! and $50 that's not bad at all. i don't know why i thought the setup fee was $300, maybe i was thinking about the vendor fee. glad it's cheaper!!!!

do sea winds have a website? Who would i contact to get a quote? Did you chose to go that route because they allow children or was there other factors?

i can email you the quote and info i received, msg me your email address. as for choosing there, i did for a few reasons 1. children are allowed 2. the food selection, they offer real jamaican food which i have alot of guests coming from the states and wanted them to get that experience (even though we plan on taking everyone into the city as well the next day). i'm also a big FOOD LOVER lol so that was a plus for me. below is couple who had their ceremony/reception at seawind. he's also the photographer i'm using for the wedding.

Yes, will do! Sorry that I have been slacking on updating this thread but I haven't forgotten! As for the bag delivery, I was going to have them do it, but in the end I just delivered bags to guests myself. I had an idea of when people were arriving thanks to a list from our travel agent, so I just made it a point to call rooms shortly after arrival to confirm they were there, then I walked over to present it to them. In the end I liked this because I got to welcome guests soon after they arrived.

The bonfire is from 7-9pm. It was a lot of fun! I mentioned on another thread, but just be aware that in addition to the open bar and DJ they also set up a table with ingredients for s'mores. I loved this and had planned to bring them for guests anyway, but that made it much easier. Had I known they included that, I wouldn't have schlepped all that extra stuff with me on the plane! Oh well. :)

Overall everything was perfect! There are very few things I would change-- one is I would have eaten more wedding cupcakes! I was surprised by how good the wedding cake was, and with the craziness of the wedding we hardly ate anything. Wish I had one of those right now. :( Haha.

More later but happy planning and let me know if there are any other questions I can answer for you!!

who did you end up using to make your cupcakes? did you just go thru the hotel? I have a few things left to find, florist, cake and lighting (i think thats all) lol

While seems so far away i want to get a heard start on the planning process as I would like to bring a lot of my own decor/etc.  Does anyone have any suggestion on where to get decently priced decor such as chair sashes, tulle, etc..  im assuming the resort will allow you to bring your own correct?

Also if anyone has gotten married at these resorts and can offer any tips of any kind to make the process smoother, less stressful, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you

they should have given you a price breakdown with everything for your wedding, i remember it's in there for decoration fee, i think it's $300 but i can't remember for sure.

  13. yes you can bring your own decorations and they do charge you a fee, i think it was $300 i can't remember. they do offer everything as far as decorations as well but it's pricey. there are a couple threads on secrets that has all the info you will need for secrets wedding and reception, secrets also has a beach club next door called seawind that is on the same property but they allow you to have kids at the wedding (just an option). they are managed by different people. hope that helps.
