  1. so glad you booked her, you will not be disappointed!  i did a natural smokey eye, she knows what she is doing and what looks best so i didn't give her much direction, just sent her one picture and it came out perfect.  here's a picture, let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks! It turned out pretty. I'm excited to work with her. I'm thinking of a smokey eye look myself.
  2. I wanted to leave a note to any bride that is getting married in Jamaica and looking for someone to do their make-up.  I was married on June 7 at Iberostar Rose Hall and Rashel Edwards did my make-up and it was AMAZING!  I cannot tell you how thrilled I was with it and how many compliments I got.  Her airbrushing stayed on all day (even lasted until the next day!) and my lashes lasted for a few days as well.  I wish I could hire her to be my fulltime make-up artist; I have never felt as beautiful as she made me feel on my wedding day!!  Rashel was so sweet and listened to everything I wanted, she was very professional and really made me feel calm and in good hands.  If she is available for your big day, please do yourself a favor and book her, you will not be disappointed!
    That's great to hear. I booked her for December. Do you have pics of how it turned out? What look did you go for?

All the other decor we collected ourselves. I made the burlap and lace runners, collected and cleaned old bottles (mostly booze bottles haha!) and purchased the lanterns, bombillos and banner.

    I put my bouquet down when I got to the table and it ended up looking nice just laying there. Totally by accident though! My fiance's last name is hyphenated and is quite long, and when he was a kid they shortened it to "HK" and it stuck. So now, we're the "HKs"!

    I was originally quoted $90 a table for centerpieces! These will cost me less that that for ALL the tables!!

    Large Vase (10in) @ Wal-Mart for $2 each

    Medium Vase (7in) @ Dollar Tree for $1 each

    Orchid purchased from Michaels for $4 (on sale) has four orchids on each stem

    Floating Candles purchased from Michaels for $1 each, you can look online for cheaper ones!

    I will also be putting votive candles around these vases and some white seashells/starfish to make them beachy. I am putting one vase of each size on the tables surrounded by 5 or so votives. On the head table I will have 1 large vase and 2 small vases (head table made up of 3 long tables, a set of vases on each of the long tables) with votives surrounding them.

    Cost = 7 large vase = $14

    10 medium vase = $10

    7-8 orchid stems = $32

    17 floating candles = $17

    36 votives (from Michaels) = $15

    seashells = $5-10

    GRAND TOTAL = $98 (high estimate)

    That is less than $100 for 4 round tables and the head table!!!

    love this! and so cheap but looks great!!! def gonna try this!

    Oh and I highly reccomend brides get airbrush makeup. My photographer made the suggestion to me as he said it lasts all day which you need if the makeup artist isn't going to stick around all day. The airbrush feels light and nice. For the bride they start at your chest and go up so it hides any tan lines or marks on your skin. And in the JA heat, with all the sweating that you'll be doing, it was amazing to pass by a mirror and see that my face was still intact...shocking actually. LOL. I'm not a big makeup wearer but would wear airbrush every day if i could.

    glad to hear it's light! i sweat like crazy so that's great lol

    I understand and us brides to be have to go with what works for us.  I think Loni's travel fees are high, vs. Rashel's and this could be a reason why we don't here much.  Also Loni does not do airbrush. Again I think one should choose based on their gut, images, and reviews.  Congrats and good luck.

Both artists have a different style Rashel's work is definitely more refined that's why we decided to go with her for my cousin's wedding and my wedding. Loni's work is really good too and she does celebrities but we haven't seen much reviews about her from brides.

    @alexisinjamaica 's makeup turned out beautiful! airbrushing also!!! They did a great job on her!

    just compare the price difference. if you bring your own from where you live, you have to pay for their flight and hotel plus the cost of their services. i know alot of people do it, i chose to hire a local photographer. go with whatever is more convenient for you :-)

  8. There are other awesome makeup artists in Jamaica .... Everyone appears to go Raschel because she's the most talked about on the board.
    That is crazy how rashel is the most talked about artist on here, that's why I went with her as well. I'm sure there are many great ones. Just wanted someone who others experienced prior to me. And loni was a lil more expensive. A few others I emailed didn't do airbrush so that was the deciding factor for me
